Any concern about this being "legal" on USFS land? It doesn't say anything about having a spark arrester on the website.

Description
The RS-4 is a versatile design with predicated power and a quiet earthy exhaust note that speaks volumes for performance. This RS-4 features all the benefits of our original RS-4 muffler, but with a unique turned-down end-cap, designed to direct exhaust heat and gases away from the bike's components. With all its benefits in mind, the RS-4 was an obvious choice for the Super Tenere.

Slip-On System includes an RS-4 muffler with turn-down end-cap, stainless steel tail-pipe, low-volume sound insert, installation hardware, and detailed step-by-step instructions.

It seems that because our bikes are plated, it shouldn't matter, but I've read that Rangers will cite a plated bike especially if it's not a "stock" pipe. (found a few threads on ADVRider, but there were lots of "opinions" and it sounded like even some Rangers didn't know how to interpret the law)

Also the Yoshimura website gives conflicting info. On the product details page, it states it's not a street legal pipe, but on the matrix chart for California emissions, it DOES claim to be street legal, which would be "legal" on a FS Road, correct?

Anyone have real world experience with any of this?

Thanks,
Michael
Doesn't matter we aren't green or red stickered... It's like you driving your car...

hi guys which side does the rubber grommet go on this yoshi install? on the back of the red alloy or the front, to me it looks like the alloy spacer fits snugly in the recess - but the instructions seem to show it on the outside (as you look at it on the bike)

hayalp?

Put a little soapy water on the rubber gromet and you can wiggle it in place.

Thanks dude, I'm soooo loving the yoshi with the baffle out. Its only as loud as the twisting of the wrist, but oh the sweet sounds on high gear roll on. You gotta love the twin! I'm so glad the yoshi was in stock.

I've had the RS-4 on my Tenere for 5000 + miles with no damage to the fender. Did you deviate from the directions provided?

No I followed the directions as printed. Not much of a job really. Here is a pic of the can mounted when I installed. Does it look like how yours is mounted?

Wow snap... I just looked at the picture and the directions and it looks like I inverted the offset mounting bracket inwards... Doooh! Well whatayaknow.... :))

No worries man! Just do your own fender eliminator, and cut it off. I just grabbed a kit made for a Suzuki gsxr and inverted it. Just a slight bend, and it fit perfectly. It is a puig fender eliminator kit for a 03-04 Suzuki GSXR 1000. The part number on it says wp-561-3051bk. Found it on Ebay. A good way to kill a rainy Saturday!
