I just had my S 10 in for service and the mechanic told me that the wires (for external hook up) leading to the battery tender were not hooked up. Obviously, that could have lead to a short with rather dire consequences once I would have connected those wires to a trickle charger for winter storage - which would have been the case in the not too distant future. Since I bought the bike from the shop were I just had it serviced the obvious question to ask was how this could have happened. The service manager swore up and down to me that they would have never let the bike leave the shop in such condition. Something does not add up here, IMHO. I am counting my blessing that they spotted this at all.....

Many years ago I bought a new GS550E and took it home - it was great fun. I wondered why the front brake travel changed after I'd turned the wheel and rolled backwards into a parking space... turned out the nuts on the front axle caps were loose - they'd never been tightened when the bike was assembled. ??? I called the dealer and had a few words....

Well, that brings up another matter which is that I had to tighten up almost every single bolt on the bike. I think these guys were in a hurry to get the bike out the door that day.....
