Greetings,

I picked up the givi +5" shield and quite happy with it compared to stock. However, I was wonderin if anyone has installed the yamaha side deflectors and what they thought of them? They do look very nice but how about function? Plus it would be a nice touch to plug up those holes..... I might just try to find some plugs if the function is poor.

Thanks

I think they make a difference. Reduces turbulence from the sides. I like them.

I have them on my ST and do ride a lot of highway speeds, i do like them and believe they are well worth the investment. They are good in the rain.

I've had my side deflectors on for a week or so. I think they help.

I put mine on last week before heading out on a 3900 miles ride. They do help to calm the air that was getting around the tank.
There are some on Ebay for $65 shipped.

I've had the deflectors installed for a month now. They seem to work great with the stock windshield. However, at times when the sun is high and behind, the reflection off of the deflectors is just nasty. I have some flat-clear Tamiya acrylic model paint that may just do the trick.

I have the same setup, but haven't noticed the reflections. They would look cool with a smoke tint on them though. ::)

The deflectors are fine but ride around during the day with the sun over head and you can expect the curved shape to create an enormous reflection to shine directly in your eyes.

After two days of this, I pulled them off.

Maybe in the winter and rainy season they are fine, but not during the summer when the sun is in the sky.

I have these and have not noticed the glare either. Maybe it is because I wear a full face helmet. Can't see much below the chin bar.. :D

today i ran with one side fitted and the other side without, it does seem to move the wind around although im not sure if it goes anywhere it shouldn't without them,

did that make sense?

I ran mine with the Givi screen and the Yamaha side deflectors today and I think there was less wind in the cockpit than without the side deflectors. I hit some rain at highway speeds (75mph) and hardly any made it to me, most was deflected around.

I leave tomorrow for a 2500 mile ride around Lake Superior. Once I hit the colder weather I'll let you know how they work!

I have the same shield as you and look forward to your long ride report. Still on the fence with this one as there have been a few folks that don't like the sun reflection off them at times....???

Does anyone know if the Yamaha wind deflectors are the same ones that Cee Bailey is selling?

Do you guys have any pictures of your YST with the side deflector installed ? I'd like to see how they look on the bike. I went for a ride yesterday and decided the taller wider windshield and side deflectors might not be a bad idea.
