Motorcycle historical buff and 1971 Daytona 200 winner, Don Emde, has organized the Cannon Ball Centennial Ride. This ride is invitation only and will retrace the route ridden by Cannon Ball (Irwin Baker) in 1914. The big news is, YAMAHA has stepped up as the events premier sponsor and is providing Don and his partner with Super Tenere's for the ride. Myself and riding legend Ralph White will be on the ride with Don and we both ride 2012 Tenere's. Go to www.cannonballproject.com to review this project. I'm a little biased, but now that the leaders of this ride are on Yamaha's, we will be able to keep on schedule with NO breakdowns.

I see you guys will be about 150 miles from me, Do you let other riders show up at your stops? Looks like a good time.

I think the website explains that others can join in for short distances and some of the stops have dinners that can be bought into. I will check with Don tomorrow to clarify and will post it here.
Also, Firefight911, I did 31 years with VCFD and retired in 2005.

Good stuff! Love the web site. Cannonballs ride report has to be the oldest I've read. Amazing ride when you consider the technology of the day. Proud of Yamaha for helping and jealous of you Mashy. Have fun!

Don says it would be very cool if some want to join in for part of the ride or at one of the stops.
If they are following the original route, there is a stop about 20 miles from me in Greenville, IL. I would sure try to meet them at their previous stop in MO and ride to this stop and perhaps part of the next day's ride. I will keep a watch on this thread and the ride website for updates.

Yes, I think the best bet is to keep an eye on the Cannon Ball website. I told Don I posted here and I think he will take a look. He and I are in the middle of putting the Trailblazers MC banquet together and are quite busy between it and the Cannon Ball ride. Take a look at www.trailblazersmc.com
