I'm not a big SWAG fan (most of the stuff I'm sure goes fairly quickly into the trash), but I thought the letter was rather cheesy. One page, unsigned, with some out of context quotes from early testers and that's about it. If you didn't get the letter, you're not missing much. Maybe there is more coming.
If you like SWAG, you should have been one of the BMW S1000RR pre-order customers. I must have gotten 10+ special delivery FedEx packages at my door, all hand-signed by the S1000RR's marketing manager with his personal cell number if you had any questions or comments. Included were reprints or full magazine back-issues of every review done on the bike, six or eight huge posters, stickers out the wazoo, DVD's, hand-signed stuff from the two gents racing the bike in WSBK, and not one, but two actual souvenir rocker arms from the bike's trick valvetrain, one designed as a necklace. (I showed the necklace to my wife and she informed me that it would be a cold day in hell before she wore than ugly piece of steel.) In any event, I filed away the reviews, kept the rockers, and everything else is.... where else, but the trash.
Open comment to Yamaha's US marketing department.... how about a cap or a t-shirt? You know, maybe something we can actually use? And advertise the product as we're out and about! Better yet, how about a coupon for 25% off coupon on an accessory or something? Then maybe some of us might consider your ridiculously-priced accessories.
