Hi All,

The original sets of came on my bike when I purchased it on 2377km. I do have kept my HB standard Aluminium sets but when I saw these plastic cases already on "Da Big Blue" decided to give'm a change. For sure needed some touches !!

First impression was the original ignition key is too tall for the pannier locks which sucks at operation. Easy to break the ignition key, I've called a friend in Yamaha Turkey, they said they'll replace the set of lock with new ones with other individual keys, as a gift I should say. Done that ! Voila ! perfect solution. Unfo, the topcase Lid makes noise and need to be recharged with soft cushioning fm both sides.

The Idea to turn them into Black was in my mind since I first saw the cases on the web. I have dismounted the cases one by one ;) separated apart the aluminium plates into 12 pieces out of 3 cases. I took them to a Foil cover shop who covers car with foils. It tooks a couple of hours and 100 bucks to turn them into black plates. I mount them together with the cases and really really liked the result. here are the photos, I hope you guys would like'm as well.

Was this just a matter of taking all those little screws out of each corner plastic trim? I am wanting to paint these too.

Hi Jeff, No paint !

http://www.fastcoolcars.com/foliacar.htm

it is this kind of a job. applying sticky foils on the plates. I've choose matt black.

for the side cases, all you have to do is to screw out the bottom of the case, then screw out the corner trims fm the inside. then the plates slide out easly ! the top plates are the easiest parts. 4 plastic stoppers with 1 sgl screws hold'em.

the tricky one is the top case. the lock is the problem. mine was f...d up because did not pay attention while dismounting it, had to go to mechanic to replace the lock back on track.

The result is fairly well in my opinion. the original greys gave a cheap looking to the beast!

Maybe powder coat, or perhaps bedliner? Just a thought. Black cases would look great on your bike.

Vinyl wrapping is available in the US. Lots of places do it. If you want to DIY, check out Alsa corporation. They have amazing foils, paints, chrome, and also the transfer type graphics.
I have been looking for someone to do their bags black so I can see how they look. Another project for my Raven ;D

OK! I want the black. How do I go about getting them here in the US. I see this link is for Europe. I've checked and they are not available in Canada. Someone with more experience than me... what do I do next. :-[

Hey Trubrit,

Thanks for the link. I would agree that this should hold up better than paint. I'd appreciate if you let us know how it goes.
