I see the rides start in April, long before June arrivals.

Boy two events in Ohuo, I hope my bike is here in time for the May event, but even if it is not, then the fall event for sure!

That is cool. I'd give it a shot. Did you happen to notice the 2011 ride events schedule? They begin in April long before our bikes will arrive.

Went back and reread slower and literature says all brands of bikes are welcome.

WOW 7 in my region! Four in McCloud, one in Yosemite, one in Palmdale and one in Oregon that is not that far.

For those who had expressed concern that Yamaha was not marketing the bike heavily enough this looks like they are making a pretty big committment.

I do wonder who scheduled the events and if they talked Japan for production dates. Either they are coming on time or we will be seeing some revisions in those dates.

Good news all-in-all

Hey, Bill,

Did you notice the Sept event in Morganton, NC? I think you and Bryan and I should ride down there and camp out at Brickner's for that one!

Ya know, Dave IS always going on about the "Brick" Yard 500! Seriously, Dave and Patricia would be glad to have us do that.

Sure that is just down the road for SOME guys. I didn't notice that they had 3 that weekend. Also got one in Taos the same time. Ok, let's flip a coin. :)

I don't think you could go wrong, all three of those are great places to ride!

I have to find the time to attend one of these. And register to win another Tenere for back-up purposes.

Taos, man I sure enjoyed STAR there. BL and I really want to go back again! But assuming I have my S10 then, I am guessing Logan is the viable option.

The 4/30-5/1 Yosemite ride is almost in my backyard (Almost as in 60 miles). I may have to try this one on my WR250R.

“The AMA Yamaha Super Ténéré Adventure Ride Series will expose the Super Ténéré to serious adventure-touring riders around the country,” said David Docktor, Yamaha’s motorcycle marketing manager. “We plan to have a Super Ténéré on each ride, so participants can see first-hand how capable and fun to ride this new machine really is.”

Yamaha’s support of the series will include the Super Ténéré grand prize giveaway bike, prizes from the Yamaha Genuine Accessories and Apparel lines and promotion of the series through local dealers. Finally, Yamaha will also be offering special promotions specifically to owners of its all new Super Ténéré.
I wonder how the special promotion will work? No ST's are due to the states for a few months afterwords. Well, it'll be cool to see the ST on the trails anyway.

You all might want to be careful on these rides. The rides in WA have been around for awhile and are for the serious die hard dual sports and lots of single tracks for guys on small dual sports with good suspensions. A few guys I know rode the Sasquatch ride
here and dumped their bikes on the steep hills and major rocks. So I am just saying most of these rides haven't been made for the Tenere or Yamaha. One should surely find out from ADV guys to see how technical each one is.

You are correct when referring to the AMA dual sport rides, I have ridden several of them on my XR250. This is an additional different series started a couple years ago that are for larger Adventure touring bikes. No problem for the S10 or GS types of bikes.

Confirmed on this. I went to the club website on the Oregon ride and they have a seperate class/route for adventure bikes. I think Yamaha is piggy backing on existing rides/ride organizers as part of a "new" adventure riding series. Just a quess but it is looking that way. Still a very good way to spread the word and let people dip their feet into the dirt (or mud) ;D

You are correct, the AMA has had this as an ongoing series. Yamaha is stepping in as a sponsor as a way to spread the word about their new adventure touring bike. We'll be glad to help out if they will only send us some bikes. :)

Alright!

I'm set up for the 4/30-5/1 Buck Meadows (Yosemite) ride. Not sure what the course will be, but I doubt it will be tough. The promoter that puts on this ride also does a KTM / AMA ride in September (same area) that is suppose to be more technical. The early spring ride is suppose to be double track off-road and big bike friendly. I've been riding in the area before, and it could be muddy in parts and could have stream crossings. Other than that, should be dirt roads that a 2-wheel drive truck can do. I have no idea of the actually coarse, so YMMV. :-[

Anyway, I'll plan to give an after action report.
