$690 is probably the MSRP, the prices on the link are discounted prices.
I havent ask my local dealers but I figure they arent discounting.

Any financial expert will tell you that an extended warranty is a great deal -- for the dealer! It's an expensive insurance policy.

$379 for 4 year on Ebay, IF you just gotta have it. It's like buying credit life insurance on a car. You're betting against yourself.

Put $400 aside for 4 years. 4 years from now I bet it will still be there. Use it for a party and smile. ::003::

I think I'll buy the extended warranty but I've got up until next August to make that decision.
My bike will probably have higher than average miles on it and the warranty will be an asset when I sell the bike in a couple of years.

I used the quote from lotecredneck to negotiate a $500 price for the 4 year YES with my local dealer at the time I picked up the bike.
Hmmmmm, I didn't realize that! Tempting.......

I tried that as well, but the dealer I purchased my bike from would not budge on the YES pricing not a bit, so I declined with them and plan to purchase through lotecredneck.

I honestly expect not to use it on the Tenere, however, If I still had my BMW, it would've paid for itself ??? ;D

This is kinda my thinking as well. I never had need for it in my 3+ years of ownership of my FJR.

But there is always a first time I guess......

Have a Yamaha Road Star, bought a five year warranty.... Thought "what a waste of money"... Four and half years of ownership and the starter went out.. Something burned up all the starter equipment and a lot of the wire harness.... They fixed it all...... GLAD I HAD the warranty then..... I got the +4 on the Super Beast as well...... Never know, four years down the road....... ::26::

my dealer is telling me the yes warranty only covers defective stuff. im on 6 months with 27000 miles. by the time my year is over i will have around 50000 miles. im guessing all the defects will show up within 50000 miles. is it worth an extra 400$. how many defects can show up after 50000 miles?

A lot with your mileage can go bad. What can be claimed is about the relationship you have with your dealer as much as it is having the warranty in the first place.

It's worth having a good read and talk with your service department.

One of the greatest things, IMHO, about the Y.E.S. warranty is that it has no mileage limits - period. Anything that's covered under the original 1-year warranty is covered for those 4 additional years, regardless of mileage. You could rack up 300,000 miles in 3 years and 11 months, and if it blew a head gasket they'd pick up the repair cost...

Or blew a final drive seal...

Or had a clutch basket start rattling...

You get the idea. ;)

A hundred bucks a year to cover any potentially multi-hundred dollar, maybe even multi-thousand dollar, repair... Seems like cheap insurance to me. Of course, YMMV.
