I'm planning a trip to Wyoming when it gets too stinking hot here in Dallas this Summer.

I lived in Cheyenne from 1989 to 1994 and traveled extensively around the state but there are a few areas I missed that I'm looking forward to exploring on my Tenere.

I'm looking for other suggestions for off the beaten path areas to explore.

Here's what I have planned so far:

The off pavement route from Steamboat Springs, CO up through the Routt NF into the Medicine Bow National Forest to Encampment, WY.

The Grey River Road starting North of Kemmerer, WY., up to Alpine Junction, WY. through the Bridger NF.

The Ashton Flagg Road between Hwy 191 at the North end of Teton National Park and Ashton, ID.

The Union Pass Road between Cora, WY and Dubois, WY. through the Teton and Bridger National Forests.

North from Arminto, WY to the Big Horn NF via the Buffalo Creek, Big Horn Mountain, and Hazelton Roads, with a little detour over to the Hole in the Wall.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks,

Steve

Hey Steve you might work in the Great Basin when you leave Encampment. Cut over to Farson and then on to Kemmerer.
I liked going thur there on the Continental Divide ride. 2 hundred miles of high desert terrain with absolutely nothing around.
I saw a badger and some wild horses and lots of pronghorn. If you go top off on fuel and carry some water. I want to camp there
one of these days. You got a nice trip planned there.

I've never been though that area, maybe I can cut up through the Great Basin up to South Pass City and then take the Lander Cut-off Road over toward Big Sandy and then head to Big Piney and then hit the Grey River Road.

Thanks,

Steve

I rode it North to South. I filled up in Boulder and had enough fuel to get to Rawlings. Pinedale has a Mountain Man museum that was closed for the night that I would like to visit. You will enjoy the Ashton Flagg road it gives a look at the backside of the Tetons.

Hey Gunner,
Benchmark Maps make EXCELLENT off-road maps for the State -I'd assume for other states as well. I use their WY Road and Recreation Atlas ISBN 10: 0-929591-96-8.
The roads and mileages are remarkably accurate. Make sure you have a good fuel management plan in place. It can be quite a distance between fuel stops in this state.

If your near South Pass City, Be sure to see “Miners Delight” An abandon Mine camp.
Calamity Jane lived there.
I was thinking about trying to get to “Hole in the Wall” on our trip through there this summer.
It looks very remote.
