Hey all, the chain on my WRR snapped and wedged itself between the front sprocket and swingarm. Sandman casesaver did its job however she didn't escape harm free. Took me a while to get the chain off, fairly deeply gouges on swingarm and the little protuding lower sprocket cover bolt hole on the crankcase cover snapped off by chain (white circle just where gear shifter is).

Chain has been binned, am able to put the bike in gear and put her back into neutral, but I don't know if anything 'internal' was been damaged when the chain got wedged while in gear. Aside from the broken sprocket cover bolt holder snapping off I'm hoping I've been lucky, any thoughts?

Would I be ok with two bolts holding the cover or should I try finding someone that can weld a new one on...or just buy a new cover ($85)? Same goes for swingarm, ok as is or new one needed?

not sure why but the first pic is sideways and the other one is upside down...

My son lost a chain at highway speed, and the only damage was the visible/external damage. Absolutely no internal damage. Put many more happy miles on it. A friend of mine threw a chain, on the highway, and cracked his oil pan. Again, no internal damage. You advised that it still shifts....replace the chain an test it out. Good luck.

It should be fine and the sprocket cover is largely to keep your footsie out of harms way, so 2 bolts should be fine if you are wearing boots instead of tennis shoes.

When you put the new chain on, try checking the tension a number of times, rotating the rear wheel in between. It'll probably be fine, even if there are really small changes. Big variations in tension mean that you bent the output shaft. If bad, it can rip up the oil seal.
