I've been real busy & haven't had the time to ride my new S-10 yet. A friend of mine who is a hard-core aventure tourer showed up last night after hearing I had a new S-10 in the garage. Since he was suited up & it was a 60 degree no-wind night we decided to go west of town on the bikes & rip around the sagebrush canyons a bit. He has ridden over 50,000 miles on his three year old V-Strom.

We ended up making a 80 mile loop with him in the lead most of the time. On a couple of flat straight stretches we were able to ride a bit faster & hit the century mark several times. My power & torque advantage was very obvious!

On the last 10 miles home we hit some realy serpentine roads that have hardly any straight sections. As he signalled to run on to this road I thought what the hell I'll try the sport setting. Man was a pleasing surprise. That little "S" switch turns the nice touring bike into a beast. I could hear a very distinct difference in the exhaust sound & the immediate torgue rise was amazing. I rode my buddies tail pretty hard.

When we got off the bikes in my driveway I was exuberant! I told him how I'd switched to sport mode & what a difference it made in the bike. He too had noticed in his rear veiw mirror how much more aggressive I was riding. He was quite intrigued by the S-10.

Now, I 'm excitied for the weekend so I can play with the switches some more! ::015::

Yes, try S and TC2 (turn the traction control down a notch)... First time I did that I wasn't expecting quite so much difference and about unseated myself... cracked my head back nicely, that did. ::015::

One step further, s mode and tc off, but be very weary, on dirt, it becomes an untamed wild horse, but damn exhilarating. You will have a smile.

WARNING: The above is not for the faint hearted.

I did about 10km in that mode on dirt, and not the greatest dirt, your concentration had to be high, and keep a high focus. Do not sit down on the seat, and afterwards enjoy the adrenaline trail.

S mode in twisties for sure.

The T mode has a fixed (it seems) timing on the throttle and it throws my rhythm out. It just feels odd trying to balance on the throttle with all that lag. Great fun this bike once you get to know what works where ::012::
