Would you spend 2500 USD on lights?

I have LED aux lights from Cyclops.
They are 50% output on low beam and 100% on HB. LB runs as well as DRL .
These cost a lot of money but am not at all sorry for the expense.
The YELLOW lenses have been very instrumental in me being seen by others( i very very rarely ever have someone pull out in front, or left turn now).

Always remember that no matter how good your lights are at night, the times when you are on LB and meeting oncoming traffic , the instant you clear the last oncoming car could be the instant you hit a forest rat when you’re still blinded by oncoming lights.

Good lights are worth the money but I have hit deer at 2:30 in the afternoon, run over a dead intact Golden Retriever during daylight hours, and a couple of rabbits... luckily no forest rats as we have plenty of them moving at night (raccoons up north. You know your in the south when they are replaced by armadillos!)

Once you have experienced high-quality lights/optics, riding (or driving) at night is hard to go without. I spend a lot of time in the countryside and I want all the candelas down range I can get. If you cannot afford it or justify the costs, that's cool, you do you.

I spent about $1300 on a pair of adaptive headlights that I mounted in front of the stock lights(which have been unplugged, and plasti-dipped). They light everything up better than the stock lights ever did. They also light up the inside while cornering.

I do enough night riding to justify the expense. Seeing the deer before they jump out is more important than having a fat wallet.
I don't love how they look, and would like to find a bracket that brings them closer to the bike, but I love they way they work...View attachment 105470

They have a low and a high beam. They also have a small marker light, for those who don't have the "always on" law to comply with.
This is the model:

I run 4300k HID bulbs in the main beams mostly for the wavelength, I've found them very good at getting the eyes of wildlife to glow. It's like seeing fireflies at a distance, and that's a big help. I live rural and ride a lot at night, so this matters. Does not work on moose, dunno why.

For high beams, I have a pair of Hella leds. Marketed at the jeep crowd, they're kinda big on a bike, but they're my "holy fuck" lights, as a buddy calls them. Inexpensive, too, at $250/pr w/harness. All my lights on high beam are around 20k lumens, stock halogens are 2200, for reference.

I really like that temp on HIDs. Have you had any issues with the longevity of your HID bulbs?

I have in the past... When Ive used HELLA ballast, and Phillips bulbs they worked flawless for 20 years (on other stuff)... When I use Chinese they basically melted and broke after a few years. Ive just moved on to a better quality Chinese brand.... (for the head light bulbs) LOL So far, "so good".............. I guess it's 'OK'.... because I have 100K lumens (joking) of Baja Designs on the bike..... LOL. Im not dependent on the stupid stock headlights...

Hi there,

I was with a friend who has also a bike (I will let you guess the brand) and informed me that he installed Denali D7 D4 with control module that integrates with the factory buttons etc....for a whopping 2500 USD...has anyone felt the need to have 4 sun like lights on the top of the factory lights?
For that budget I got front and rear ohlins suspension, two aux lights at 55 USD and 45 USD for their installation and a sandwish....

Just checking if I am old now and out of sync....or just too rational about Farkling my bike....

Cheers

WOW that's expensive - FYI I have 2 sets of Denali D3"s with their Dial Dim probably spent around $1800 CDN all in. The main reason I spent this money is because i want to be seen by the idiots driving cars - I can tell you that people see me coming FYI I do very little driving at night but will probably try them to see their impact on night vision !

I generally get 4 years out of them before a bulb or ballast goes. That's 40k kms a year riding, lots of run time and vibrations. Given the price, I'm good with that.

Thanks a lot. I think I will go for the Chinese ones for the same size

I used the Denali mount, then added a flat piece of aluminum going all the way across for them to bolt to. I'd recommend figuring out how you can do it on yours before you commit.

That price is about the same as what I paid for the set with wiring from Amazon.
