I just don't think that it's proper to disconnect the odometers until they are sold.
Yup, no names of dealers please: we're not looking to trash the names of businesses here - thanks Elizilla.

Had never heard of a dealer disconnecting an odometer for demo rides though . Im thinking that is the exception rather than the rule, as most bikes (unless straight out of the crate) have at least some mileage from setup?

Word of mouth is a hell-of-a thing ...

I bought an ex demo and no regrets.

When I picked it up it had 1250 miles on it and was 'as new' visually. The first 600 were done by the mechanic or shop owner (it's a small family business), then it became the bike of choice of the owner, and was test ridden by a mate who did about 150 miles. Not many miles unaccounted for and the shop is particular on who they let ride their bikes.

The shop also has a few heavily discounted bikes and I paid this asking price for the demo but I also got:-

the colour I wanted (white)
heated grips
Yamaha stripes on the tank
alloy sump guard
PIAA spots
front fender extender
Givi AirFlow Screen
Yamaha winglets
Givi 3 piece Trekker luggage (with the new QD pannier rails)
6k service when needed

Very happy with the bike, and taking it on a 4k European tour in June.

Hi there,

I bought my S10 as a demo and rental bike with 16 000 km / 10 000 miles (!) on it. Mind you, I'm in Germany with no-speed-limit Autobahn, and what that means for the "break-in" of a rental bike. Now I've got 60 000 km / 37 500 miles on it. No problems whatsoever and no need to refill oil during maintenance intervals. Sure there were some minor scratches and a little dent in one pannier, but I don't regret it at all that I paid 35% less than list price.
