Windscreen choice

Hello,

I bought my super tenere second hand with a touring puig smoked bubble.
I don't like it very much because it's very dark and since I'm not very tall, the bubble cuts off my field of vision.

I'd go for a bubble that's slightly lower and clear or very lightly tinted.

I'm hesitating between several models, but they shouldn't be too wide either, so as not to interfere with the handguards.

Here's my selection:

- powerbronze bubble: https://www.powerbronze.co.uk/yamaha-xt1200z-super-tenere-14-17-535-mm-420-y141.html
- national cycle v stream sport/tour: http://www.nationalcycle.com/vehicles/motorcycle-1/yamaha/yamahaxt1200supertnr/2020yamahaxt1200supertnr/n20320.html
- calsci bubble: https://motorcycleinfo.calsci.com/Tenereprod.html
This one seems to attenuate turbulence, which seems to be a good option.

Do you have any models to recommend?

I'm 5'10, 30" inseam. 50K + enjoyable miles with the Yamaha accessory "tall" screen and a cheap Amazon adjustable spoiler clipped on the top edge. Only complaint would be that it works too well, no airflow to the face/chest for ventilation. (excellent in the rain though!)

Well I have the medium sized VStream that you show in your second link, it works pretty well for me but like you I wish it was clear instead of tinted, I even discussed it with VStream but they refuse to make it in clear.

That's why I still have the OE w/o wings. Down here, there's no such thing as too much air flow. (except for right now in the mornings) Back when I was kid, I would put a NC universal plexi windshield on my bike for the winter in WA. Took it off in the summer.

Another 5'-10" with 30" ish inseam. VStream sport touring shield in conjunction with OE winglets works great for me. Enough airflow for 90F heat and wonderful protection for winter time use. The light gray tint doesn't bother me.

Happy hunting!

I have the VStream and I don't even notice the light tint. Been on my 13 model since 2013 and still looks good. I don't ride at night so I can't comment on how it is at night.

I was about to pull the trigger on the Touratech Evo spoiler, to create a bubble of clean air over the top of my helmet, but I would love to hear if anyone has a recommended (cheaper) alternative.

I've got a California Scientific and it's been my favorite so far. No recommendation on height. I'm 6 feet and think I have the tall version. Cut back the turbulence for touring riding.

I've got a shorter Madstadt in the garage byt it didn't do it for me. Keeping it around for now for hot weather, but I honestly haven't felt the need to switch around.

I previously had a tall Parabellum and used it for a number of years. It was good, but for some reason shoulder turbulence started to irritate me, so I swapped it for the CalSci. I tried a medium Parabellum but found it a tad too short for me and what I wanted.

I don't have an opinion on the others, but I will stick with CalSci if I need to replace my current one. I've got a small crack from gravel, so it may happen.

Also - I've got th Madstadt bracket and side support bars. Highly recommend that, regardless of the windscreen.

Holy cow, TT sure is proud of that thing, aren't they?

I have used one of these for 5 trouble-free years:

Cheap Chinesium shit, but it works fine. (see pics of it mounted on my bike in post # 2, above)

Madstad gets my vote - had it on my V Strom and have in my 2022 ST: great range of adjustability

California scientific on my tenere , best windshield I've had . on their sight they explain how to pick the correct size , one needs to see over not through to be safe . very calm behind the screen and a nice place to ride .

Givi AirFlow for me. You can adjust the upper section to your height. Ugly but effective

Straight fit on the Gen 1 bikes but needs a bit of fiddling for the Gen 2

Here's mine on a Gen 2
