For the Airflow I had initially bought a used one with an alixpress madstad bracket, it all fit, but I couldn't use all of the adjustment. So I ordered another alixpress bracket for the 2014+ models and then had to redrill new holes. I first installed the bracket on the bike, then set the windscreen on it to see where it would fit best, used a sharpy to mark the new holes, took it off, drilled it, and put it back on. Really not a thing of beauty, but it worked really well for my 6'1".Scrambler. Great video, really enjoyed watching it. Good luck with the new bike. I noticed you had a Madstad bracket on your Gen 2 and you had a Givi airflow screen which I know is designed to fit the Gen 1 bikes. I have a Madstad and a newly delivered Givi airflow and it looks like I will have to drill new holes for it to fit. Is this what you did and if so did you mark It up when the bracket was on the bike or off it?
Lol, thats EXACTLY what i did , lined it up by eye and then dabbed it with a blue marker, brought it inside and used a soldering iron to mark the holes and then drill them, worked a treat! In fact i drilled it twice because the first holes made the screen too high so i drilled four new ones to lower it, now it looks like Swiss cheese........ I'm having so much fun on the DR, even did 600km days, but there'S no way I could put 1300km in a day like I did on the Super Tenere, and riding 2 up is not something I look forward to anymore Always compromises. Ideally I'd like to have a DR and ST in the garage.DR650 is a great platform to building a bike that can do the ton or crawl a mountain trail. if one could only afford and have only one bike this is a great choice . not much that is complicated . screw and locknut valve adjustments , easy to do . runs on regular . tons of after market to make it what you want it to be . its old school that was done right . as I age I wonder how long I will put up with the weight of a 600 lb "dirt bike " when a 350 lb bike might keep me riding . or a vespa , I think their kinda cool. about the same price even. insurance for either is cheap . not in a hurry and I fully understand when life hits you up side your head changes happen. lose a job lower your cost . or circumstances will do it for you.
my neighbor just bought a dr650 , "man you need to get one ' ,'dude I already had one " . and here I am . luckily I cant find a new DR 650 any where , or I would be in trouble (wife is ok with it if I choose it ) not sure I need anymore debt to carry , and do I really want to go back to the DR.
if I could only have one bike I would.
