Hey Guys. With the issue that Im experiencing now with Yamaha, and my broken collector... I am going to try and do this through warranty but I have a couple of issues:

1: The dealership may decide it is not a warranty issue
2: The dealership may say its covered under warranty, but the parts may not arrive for up to 8 weeks because they have to be ordered from Japan. I refuse to wait that long for a part.
3: If the dealership wont repair it under warranty, the original OEM part costs over $1,000 CAD.

So I am wondering if I should just be doing myself a favor and ordering up the Arrow Headers because they take over a month to get here, and my warranty expires next month.. If they decide that It cant be fixed over warranty, I'd at least have some arrow headers to replace the broken stock headers with.

My other question is can I run my bike unmodified with the full arrow system? I think on the Arrow website it says that they use a completely 100% unmodified bike with their arrow slip on and headers but in my previous experience with cruisers you need some kind of fuel management system or re-mapping done to the ECU. I've also heard that unmodified can lead to some unsmooth fueling? Any advice appreciated!

I highly doubt they'd be getting the part from Japan. Yamaha has an extensive network in NA. If the thing cracked without any signs of abuse they will warranty the thing. If by chance they don't, you can find an OEM for next to nothing on ebay.

I have the Arrow headers (kept the quiet OEM canister) and the bike pretty much responds the same. Might have a little more in the upper part of the range.

I'm killing my brain right now trying to understand if the full arrow system requires a PCV or not. I see some people saying it does, some others that dont. Arrow's website says that they do testing on completely standard unmodified motorcycles, which leads me to think that they are OK with out a PCV. What are you running?

You probably can run the full Arrows system without a reflash or a PCV.

But why?

It's a fantastic part\portion of a complete performance enhancement package.

I have the full system with a flashed ecu, PCV, and autotuner.
The bike really wakes up and gets what I have described a few times as snarl and attitude.
It's wonderful. And I've never heard of anyone that has actually done it say otherwise.

Full disclosure though: I actually prefer the way mine runs with the PCV bypassed!
It has more grunt from the bottom and it's terribly addicting.
But all that really means is I COULD load a different map on the PCV and adjust it towards my preferences.

Anyways, I don't think I'd be happy with the untapped potential of running the headers with an oem ecu map.

To be honost, cost is a factor. I installed the arrow muffler and then discovered a leak in the collectors welding. I wasnt expecting to have to go through a repair. I am looking into if it's a warranty issue. For me in Canada, getting the headers, ecu flash and pcv would cost thousands. I Can't justify that if the new headers don't work out the box. I just wanted to know if anyone has or does run their bike with arrow muffler and headers with no modifications and how the bike ran

I believe there was a fella in the UK with a gen1 (2012?) that originally installed the full Arrow system long before doing any kind of flash or pc.
If I'm not mistaken, his forum name is Rasher.

Again, it's been years but he posted substantially about the subject and if I remember correctly his complaint was mostly about a light surging or hunting at very small throttle input cruising.

Not sure what year model yours is, but I suspect the oem map on the gen2 bikes might be different enough that Rasher's symptoms might not be duplicated exactly.

Hope you get things sorted to your satisfaction.

I'm running my full arrows with a flashed ECU. 20k km with zero issues.

That's it. No side effects. I know, I had my motor apart! ::015:: Valves were fine. Head was fine.

Took it for the first spin after re-assembly! Sweet donkey jeebus it goes!

Go for it, you don't need the PCV. Do give you TB's a throttle balance

You can perform a CO setting change via the instrumentation meter. I set mine to +8 for each cylinder after changing to a dna air filter n akrapovic exhaust. Rides better.

I ran a full arrows without a flash, it ran just fine other than a little uneven at very low throttle openings (caused by downpipes not silencer). Rasher ran just the downpipes with the OEM silencer and experienced the same unevenness when riding slowly at low throttle openings. You can slip the clutch a little to even it out. I sold the silencer and put the original silencer on after about a year as I just found it a bit too noisy.
