I've got two bikes to ride and may decide to sell one of them after the Super Tenere gets here, but I am getting frustrated with the waiting. I guess I can't complain but certainly wish Yamaha could have been more specific in the delivery date and timing. I'm going to call D & H today to get the lowdown but will then just put the bike out of mind until I get the call it is here. I've got too many farkles waiting to give up on it.

I think the only real problem right now is Yamaha's lack of communication. I think they've been a little lax about that. Lot of misinformation floating around. But they haven't been late with anything .... yet. North America was never suppose to see these things before about a month and a bit from now, so as far as anyone really knows, they are right on schedule. We just don't know at this point. You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him take a bath. Meaning ........ I dunno, it's early yet. R

My issues had nothing at all to do with thinking Yamaha was putting something over on us... not at all.. I jumped on the bandwagon 5 months after the initial PDP started so, assuming a June delivery for the guys 1st in line, I was fully expecting a 5 month delay... and expect the worst sorta thing, so I would be delighted if it showed up before Nov '11...

My issue was trying to figure out if it was the right bike for me given I'm keeping my ST1300.. I'm still not sure.. all of my riding in the past has bee 95% pavement except where I've had to take the occasional dirt road.. if I were replacing my ST the S10 would be a great bike... but, it kinda feels like having an ST and Wing in the same garage, what's the point...

I'm not sure I would want a more dirt oriented bike in the garage either as I'm not sure it would get much use beyond the Continental Divide Ride I had planned... might still find one used and cheap for that ride and sell it...

I started looking at the 800 cc dual sport options.. BMW/Triumph and the cost of them is more than the Tenere...

So, the cost of getting a good deal on a great bike is patience... and that's a tough thing to ask from guys that can get almost any bike avail with maybe a month delay at most... I have another bike, I've only been waiting 2 months, not 7+ and I'm still impatient.

I think once the bikes start showing up this place is going to catch fire... Is this bike for me? Heck, I don't know... I need some time with it but if it's not, there is going to be a market for those that don't care for the pdp so you shouldn't be out much if any $ due to that.

That's pretty well where I'm at. I have an ST1300 as well, which I plan to keep forever. It is a dream bike for pavement cruising. All I want is another nice bike that will handle some gravel roads. Up here, you have to plan on having to go gravel at some point in order to get anywhere. Not looking for goat trails, but just hoping to be able to navigate some sound gravel roads that lead to Valhalla and beyond. And then there is the inevitable construction that has actually forced me to turn back. I got the chance to park my ample butt on one of these last January, and I really liked the feel and look of it. There are a lot of things going for it, so I'm hanging in. At least until I have some reliable information that allows me to make an informed decision. Nothing is late yet. R

we all know that 'the more bikes, the better' but I cannot really afford that, nor do I have the room in the garage. my desire for the s10 stems from the fact that when I go for a ride, I often don't know where I will go, or how I will get there. there are more dirt roads in my neck of the woods than there are paved roads, so there is always temptation to see a side road and know that I have to witness where it comes out. I have considered the st13 as well as the fjr, but for where I ride, there would always be a compromise on my route. the st offers amazing wind protection tho, quietest ride ever. I sort of envy this dilema.

Having the FJR allows me all the patience I need to wait for my Super Ten. At first I was going to sell the FJR thinking the bikes had a lot of "mission overlap" but when I ride it I'm reminded what a great ride it is. 8)

Hey 20 ... do not sell the FJR ... not ever ... as you say they are superb rides. THe XT1200Z is a great bike but it ain't an IL4 tourer. :)

I agree with Swagger. I have exchanged my '08 FJR for my S10 and I must admit it was a very tough decision to make. I only wish I was in a position to be able to have both. I can now assure you that the S10 is a very different ride to the FJR (and presumably therefore to the ST1300). I don't think I have made a mistake in buying the S10 at all, I just love it. :) I've had it for just over a week now and already need to book it in for its 600mile service next weekend. It's just that the FJR would be a perfect alternative to have. I know it must be difficult but I do highly recommend hanging in there.....

You guys are making this very hard for me!! I had first thought the SuperT would REPLACE my FJR, but now I'm leaning more and more to having the SuperT JOIN my FJR in the stable. I can't ride them both at the same time - but I can sure ride them both at different times!!!! :D

My thoughts exactly. Don't dump the FJR unless you absolutely have to. Different bikes for different stuff. I'm looking forward to having both of my ST's. Hope I can hang onto them. R
