I am new to the forum and in the market for a new/remaining 2012 or 2013 Super Tenere. I live in Thurston County and have visited the five dealers listed below, and would like some constructive feedback from anyone having experience with any of these. (A search in the Dealer/Vendor section produced no info on PNW dealers.)

My goal is to find a reputable dealer I can count on in the "long run" as opposed to finding the "cheapest" dealer. I would greatly appreciate any constructive feedback! Thanks.

1. Tacoma Motorsports
2. Centralia Powersports
3. Yamaha Motorsports of Olympia
4. Hinshaws in Auburn
5. ProCaliber in Longview

First off, welcome to the forum! :)

I deal with I90 Motorsports and find them to be exactly what I need - reputable, helpful and fair.

I know another dealer will be mentioned here (by Hoebster) who is also a stand up guy. I can't recall the dealer's name - but I think they're in Ellensburg, or somewhere nearby, IIRC. I've spoken with him before and would happily do business with him, we just couldn't make the deal work on the trade I had due to his customers generally wanting a different type of bike than I had. :)

Sorry to not be more helpful, but I have had good results with ProCaliber in the Vancouver location.

Got mine at Brothers in Bremerton. They gave me the best price in the Puget sound region by far. I shopped all of them on your list except the Oly dealer. Cheers and good luck.

When I bought mine, I went all over the place to "feel" out the dealers. Really had some crappy experiences before decided between: Adventure Motorsports in Munroe and Skagit Motorsports in Burlington. Decided upon Adventure Motorsports and really happy with their service department. Over all, a very good experience and the owner is a bit of a character (in a good way). I like "Skagit" as well, and almost bought from there, but they were a bit far for service. First test road a Tenere there and they always have the best Yamaha Demo days in the State.

Dealers I would avoid: Lynnwood Motorplex (got lied to); I-90 (dissed Yamaha trying to sell me the Explorer); Ride Motosports in Woodinville (no help whatsoever despite going in there multiple times - I guess if you like "no pressure"). Heard negative things from others on these three dealers.

Yamaha Motorsports in Olympia (your neck of the woods) seemed not bad. Went there a couple of times. A little far. Liked the salesmen, though. Don't know about their service department.

HoebSTer really likes a dealer in Cle Elum and refers a lot of people there. A bit far for me living in Kirkland.

Good luck! Nice to have so many choices. ::022::

Thanks to everyone for all the input so far! I had not thought about Bremerton, but will definitely give them a visit. E WA is too much of a stretch for me, but just may give them a call anyway. Who knows?

Pro Caliber stands out in my mind as being very straight forward, helpful and no pressure.

I will definitely keep checking back here and post the final results if/when I purchase one. Maybe it will be of help to others as well!

I live in SE Washington & bought mine from Experience Powersports in Moses Lake & high recommend them.

But...I was in Prosser on Saturday & noticed Desert Valley Powersports has five of them on the showroom floor & more in the back I believe. A guy could most likely cut a good deal there.

When I owned my FJR Desert Valley is the only dealership in the state the FJR boys would take their bikes too.

Good luck with your purchase!

Pspe, as others have mentioned yes I prefer Cle Elum. Sportland. It is a trek, but you aren't beat up on the crap little stuff. I did send you a pm. When you get your bike, email me so I can add you to the area owner list. We are almost to 50 guys. Best of luck. Oh, I am having a tech day jan 18 if you want to stop by and meet anyone.

I got mine in Cle Elum though I live in Roy. The 1st service was done in Olympia/Lacey. I'll use them both depending on what's needed.
Stay away from the guys in Tacoma. The salesman didn't know what a Tenere was even though he had one on the floor. :-/

Thanks for the all the great info! This is too nice. Regarding bike color, I would love a blue one but realize that it is a 2012 color and probably is not available anymore. The white in the 2013 model is my close second choice. I like the visibility factor of a white bike in a gray climate, as opposed to the matte gray.

Thank you for finding that. (Curious to know if the blue looks as good in "real life" as it does in the photos.) Everybody has been so helpful. I hope it all works out and I can be a happy Tenere owner soon. Maybe all this input from everyone will be of value to someone else as well.

I've bought my last two bikes at Tacoma motor sports. Erik had been there for 16 years which is unusual for a sales person. He has always given me a fair price. Carroll in parts is AMAZING if you need anything she will find it. I highly recommend TMS

Thanks for the info on Tacoma Motorsports.

A quick update. I spoke with Jeff at Cle Elum and he was very helpful in answering my questions about the bike. When I told him what sort of pricing I am seeing on the west side of the state he was not afraid to say that they were good prices. He then went on to explain how some dealers are able to get that low and what sort of profit is in that price (apparently not too much).

I have since started reading about the ECU re-flash that some are doing to the bike and want to research that a bit more before I commit. (AFR's, open vs closed loop, what the re-flash is actually doing and how it works). Will start hunting thru the other forums for more info. Thanks for ALL the help everyone is providing. It is good to know how many nice people there are.

Tabasco (Jaxon) from this forum can help answer alot of questions on what the AF ratio's are and where is best. I remember him telling me the PC V w Auto-Tune along with the ECU upgrade is the best of all worlds combined. He thought the ECU may be a hair lean overall, and to keep an eye on it. I haven't pulled my plugs yet with only 17k miles to see how light brown they really are with only my ECU done. The PCV and A/T will keep the fuel running at higher rpms than the ECU does as some say the ECU lacks spunk at higher RPM's or WOT. I rarely feel the need tobe either of these much past 6k when using the proper gear for torque going up a hill.
