I have the Arrow headers, with an Akropovic exhaust. Sounds good, looks good, and gives it some pep!
I would like to see your system sometime, maybe at Coffee at Dawn (I met you there this past summer).

I'm getting a better idea of which silencer I most like the look of (Arrow or Two Brothers Racing) but for me, one question still remains. I've never run a bike with the type of silencer that needs repacking before and given that our bike is a big capacity twin, I'm concerned it'll frequently need rebuilding. it doesn't appear to be that difficult a job to do in itself but it'll be another job that "has to be done" that will also require regular financial outlay too. Does anyone out there have any experience of when this kind of can is likely to begin blowing out its innards? :-\

Not on the S10 but I did have a FMF on a DR-350. I liked the sound and the lite weight but hated the repacking. They recommend every 30 hours. It would have been fine for a race bike but I was using it as a daily rider. Soon after repacking it started getting louder. And it was a royal pain to repack. I will never have another silencer that needs repacking on a bike that is used primarily on the road.
Just my 2 cents worth.

I put close to 20000km on the gpr, it sounded the same the day I got it, and the day I removed it.
The two brothers will need repacking, luckily with our short canadian winters ::015::
a lot of the maintenance items can be sorted in the off season.
With a good quality rivet gun, repacking a muffler is an easy job.
I just got thw two brothers (1500 km or so) i'll keep an eye? on the packing, i dont think it will be something
that needs to be done more often than every 20 thou or so.
I have a carbon two brothers on my vfr, and makes the bike sound amazing (2001 gear driven cams).
I had staintunes on my last bike (v-strom 1000) and they are a lifetime pipe, the problem i have with the staintune
for the ST is the tip looks like it got nicked from a mack truck-ugly and its not cheap. That said, I bought the Staintunes for the v-strom for $1000, used them for 55xxxkm, and sold them second hand for $600::014:: my $0.02

So I went to the catalan manufacturer None who offered me the possibility to develop a new one. To my surprise they build a dual exhaust. They are starting to produce it now. ::008::
Price in Spain: 630€ plus taxes.
Do you have a link for the manufacturer's website? Thanks.

I definately want a silencer that will not need any maintenance, and also be CE marked so it is legal all throughout Europe (British BS marks that many UK made silencers carry do not apply once off our own Island) Although it is unlikely to cause an issue I would not want to give a Gendarme that has taken offence with my riding "style" anything else to pick on.

Saw nothing at the show, Scorpion do a 660 one, but no 1200 - and not in the pipeline according to the man on the stand.

Hi all,

Still loving the titanium Arrow. Sounds great and looks pretty decent too. I run it without the baffle and it is deep but not too loud.

It is CE marked and comes with the approval paperwork. When touring Europe this year I put the baffle in to make sure I got no police problems, but I hardly saw another similar bike with a baffle in place. They like them fruity in the Pyrenees!

Got a good price from my mate Cliff at www.adventurebikeshop.co.uk as I do with most of my farkles.

Regards,

Matt

I was inspired by the waspwork bike, and went about getting a silencer set up to fit tight to the bike to allow a balanced pannier system and get rid of the gross ugly Yam one. I had a Scorpion can from my BMW Metal Mule kit , I went to a local pipeworks and they made a link to my fitted can, cost £80, so I reckon a good carbon can from ebay £50 and a custom link is a good solution?

The indicators are Motrax ali ones so don't melt, all seems to work fine, not too noisy and I think a cleaner look.

Has anyone found a good looking passenger peg bracket that can be used in place of the stock set up?

Anyone know if Wings makes a muffler for the S10. Generally well made and reasonably priced with good sound. Not too loud with a deep base sound. Slightly louder than an Akro. ::26::

I had no luck with any of the silencer manufacturers at the NEC Bike Show either. I did talk to the people at Beowulf who were very helpful and said that they are developing a silencer for the S10 but were unsure as to when it will be put into production. I wasn't that impressed with the look of their cans however, so I probably won't go for one. It also seems that unless I go for a Staintune, which I can't afford, all the other options will need repacking at some time or another. I was looking at a Two Brothers Carbon can too but I'm put off by the fact that they seem to need repacking often and the resin that bonds the fibre together turns brown if it gets too hot. So, out of the silencers that are available, the Arrow appears to fit my bill.

There is an alternative however, which for some reason I hadn't thought of trying for the S10. ::010:: A good few years ago I persuaded an acquaintance, who happens to fabricate stainless steel exhaust systems for a living, to make a complete 3 into 3 system for my Triumph Thunderbird Sport. It took me a couple of years to get him to make it but the results (see photo) were well worth it, as I'm sure you'll agree. I may go and pay him a visit in the New Year and begin working on him again. Given that it's only a silencer that i'll be asking for, it may not take two years! ::26::
