With the Sargent seats - do you still have to level them and do the flat seat mod? Or are they good to go as is?
No need to do the level with them.ADKsuper10 said:With the Sargent seats - do you still have to level them and do the flat seat mod? Or are they good to go as is?
Just curious..I love the Russell on my Triumph and plans were when I found a Tenere, to have Russell build another seat for me.jack d said:I change motorcycles about every 2 years as I ride 30k miles a year and once a bike gets to 100k people do not want to buy it so I need to change while I can sell the current bike. My approach when buying a bike was to immediately make an appointment with Russell and have them do a seat for me. I have tried Bill Mayer, Corbin, Sargent, Seat Concepts, Seth Laam and a couple of other people and some DIY attempts. I found Russell was the best for hours and hours in the saddle. When the bike sold I kept the Russell and could quickly sell it for 2/3 of it's original cost. This worked fine until the Tenere and the previous bike, an R1200GS. These bikes were just too tall for my short legs and the additional height of the Russell. The best I found for the GS was the Seth Laam. I am still wondering what to use on the Tenere. My experience has been that the shape of the seat is much more important than the foam density and that most foam is too hard for me as I am 165 pounds especially if the shape is wrong. I also have not had much success with air cushions, beads and sheepskins.
Do you have the rider seat only or the pillion seat as well ? I would be interested in some pictures as well, particularly in the size difference over the stock seats, thanks !Hittheroad said:I have the Touratech Standard Comfort seat and it is very comfortable. Worth the money for me. Over 5k on it now and found it to be very durable too.
I will second that. You can ride all day and never notice your sitting.Fennellg said:I went with a russel day long. Still had to level it. At first I was not sure, but after a 7000 trip, I will sing it's praises. This was the first major trip I did not have to take Advil. The seat works nicely.
Did you get your Seat Concepts and if so what did you think about it?AZPI said:I ordered the Seat Concepts regular density seat and should have it in a week or so. I'll post pics and report after install.
I was just talking to him a couple days ago. I plan on sending my seat to him at the end of the month.mrpete64 said:I had Seth Lamb do my seat. He is located in California and he did a wonderful job at a very reasonable price. I have tried almost every seat made and his is...the best!
Try Terry's Custom Seats. Mine is friggin amazing!ADKsuper10 said:I know seats are a very different animal from person to person, but I am hoping I can get a little feedback to guide my decision. For the record I am 6'3", 225lbs with a 34" inseam.
On the stck seat I get a sore bum after an hour or so - not my tailbone but more each cheek's pressure point, as it were.
Now I have to admit I don't care for the looks of the RDL seat, so I would like to try something else. I had a Sargent seat on my KLR, which was a big improvement over the stock seat. It was not magical, though.
What I am looking for is to be comfortable to about 2hrs on the bike, since I generally take a break a minimum of every 2hrs (most of the time sooner than that) and get off the bike to stretch, etc. I would like to get off the bike because I need to strecth, and not because my rear end is killing me AND I need to stretch.
I would like to know how some of you who have similar issues with their stock seats have made out with a Sargent, Corbin, or Saddlemen seats?
I have searched the forum and done some reading, so my apologies for ::002::
