Hi Chaps
What are good engine bars for my gen I S10 which are available in the UK?
I have a Yamaha engine guard and the World Crosser guards too. I obviously don't want to start cutting stuff to make it fit. I have included a big picture so you can see what I mean. Cheers

I had the givi bars and they worked well, the I upgraded to the altrider bars and love them.

If you cant get the altrider bars, the givi bars are a good choice.

Ya' know. You make skid plates. Strong bullet proof skid plates. What's to keep you from making crash bars? Bend, weld, sell.
I would make the best…. But no one would buy them because they would not be in the price range or what is available on Amazon or eBay.
The ADV community is famous for being as cheep as possible. 99% of the world have no idea the investment that needs to be made to produce parts to breakeven, let alone make $5.
Today’s society has zero loyalty and will typically buy what they feel is a fair price item. In the ADV world the “typical” fair priced item is junk and is only jewelry for a motorcycle. Spent over 20 years in the custom business.
Our skid plate price has not gone up $.01 in over ten years. The metal has quadrupled and the consumables have gone up 3-4-5 times from what they use to be. Folks still think ours is too expensive and wonder over to the mega mass produced product that might be hundred bucks less. Just the way the world works.
The game is to make cheep quality products and have your add department and PR department make the customer feel like they are getting great stuff for a good price. It’s still expensive cheep junk most of the time…………. Sad truth
There are quality items made in this world, but you will pay a high (quality)price for those items.
In my case, I still make the same awesome product and make no money. Because I want too.

Another vote for Altrider. I got lucky and got mine during a scratch and dent sale; they were marked down due to some sort of imperfection in the powdercoat. I couldn't even see the imperfection.

They're good bars; the bike's been down on it's side twice, and they kept the sensitive bits (like the radiator) off the ground, and they didn't sustain any damage.

Plus, they're an awesome place to hang my crash bar bags.

In the ADV world the “typical” fair priced item is junk and is only Jewlery for a motorcycle.
I have been unpleasantly surprised by how true this is for side cases after getting into ADV bikes in the last couple of years. A lot of "premium" cases that I look at and use rattle around on the racks and are unusually flimsy.

one other choice is available from Yamaha .... my great friend carrot , an inactive forum member , has OEM bars from Yamaha . his bike is a 2012(60k miles ) and has been dropped on the street and on the dirt multiple times and no damage to his bike and the bars have held up well . the bars are not pretty and seem cheap but they work ... so if you cant find any after market try mother Yamaha OEM .

For me it's been a matter of finding the product available. I mounted the Trex bars and they seem to be pretty good. I try to support American made when possible.
