With SW-Motech bars you can remove the offside panel, but not the rad panel. At service time I remove both bars for the monkeys to play.
The bars have saved the bike from three stationary drops , with only scratches to the bars.

Had the Yam ones on mine for the last 2 years. Good points - great for putting the bike down on when I had a couple of stationary topples with full luggage. Bad points - got rusty real quick, in the way of where I want to put my legs for fwd rests. Taken them off th he bike until I work out the fwd rest position and while I repaint them

Altrider for me they look the part and superstrong and you can remove both side panels although the rad side is a bit of a fiddle. Definitely worth the money in my book .

I recently hit a German Shepard at night in a country road and it caused me to crash. I was doing about 30mph BUT I broke my shoulder, broke my leg and ankle. However the Rumbux did it's job and saved my bike. I don't know if I can bend it back to normal, but it was totally worth the money.
The Jesse bags also served as extra protection, but I believe it caused my broken leg.

I'm glad you asked, haha. The dog got up and kept on running. I saw him after I was discharged from the rehab hospital, about 3 weeks after the accident. He looked fine but I only saw him once. I don't know if my neighbor got scared and got rid of it or what...
