Woke up to a nice dry morning, on the task list for the day was to pick up some steak for dinner tonight. Seeing the weather, and having just mounted the OEM side cases, I put two and two together and decided to make a ride out of it. 4 hours and $175 later I had stocked the freezer. Headed out of Portland to the west to Carlton Farms, a local meat company well known for their pork products. They've got a retail store that has some pretty good prices. They are an hour away, and on the edge of the Tillamook state forest. I rode out, headed right past, played in the forest for two hours, then headed back to pick up some meat. Forest was fun, loving the Tenere on the forest roads. It's Elk hunting season, lots of folks out in their trucks, four wheelers, and even one dirt bike, all with a rifle at hand.

I've been running the top case for a bit over 1000 miles. After reading lots of reviews, I wasn't sure if I'd like the OEM stuff, but decided to try the top case. I was actually impressed. Yes, the locks are bit fiddly, and I have to pull the key. After a few rides it was no longer fiddly, just routine. I decided to pick up the side cases, put the mounts on last weekend. I really like all of them. The side case mounts are fine for about 90% of what I ride, the top case mount is really solid. I like the way the bags fit the bike. All of my latches are working great, hopefully that continues. I picked the liners for all the cases, a bargain, and unexpectedly nice. The cases are much stronger than I expected, I find them comparable to the OEM aluminium stuff I had on my BMW GSA. They seem a lot lighter, and at the same time seem stronger. I'm not expecting them to be drop worthy. Anyway, put 8 lbs of beef in the left one, 8 lbs of pork in the right, and slapped a 12 lb box of chicken up top. Didn't even know any of it was there. These cases are a bargain.

I like mine all 3 of them also. They were installed at the time of purchase of my Tenere and I have 10,500 miles on them now and outside of the funky locks I love them.

BTW I also am still running the OEM original tires 10,500 miles and it looks like they will go 12-13K rear and front 20K. I am a happy camper with the tires and the wear I am getting. ::015::

I Have Dropped My Bike 5 Times Now..twice Ripped My Right Side Box, Oem, Off The Bike. The Plastic Broke All The Way Thru And I Duct Tape It Back Latched It On And Still Trucking. It Fits A Little Loose Now, But With A Load In It, It Rides Secure. Three Drops That Side, Two TheOther Side And It Is Still Good.

Which OEM tires came on your bike, Doug? In any case, you must be smooooth! About 8500 is the most I have ever gotten out of a rear.

I am using a dry lubricant in the key locks, goes on wet then dries.
Much improved key action, so far not getting grimed up.
One of these days I am going to get inside the box and smooth all surfaces that the tumbler rides on.
