Took the bike to Halifax, N. S. Great fide but what a pig on gas while cruising 75. Gauge starts flashing after 2 hours.
Yeah, I found out how much it sucks gas at 70 to 85 mph. That's the only thing that I was envying the BMW boys for. They seem to get better gas mileage... but they weren't as heavily loaded as I was. Glad I had extra gas with me as insurance. Gave me peace of mind but I never needed it.

Well tell us about your ride!
It was absolutely awesome. So much so I might tie part of the IDBDR into another BDR next year. I posted a few photos and info on a few post up.
I will post a few more photos. It was amazing.

I highly recommend the Idaho BDR

Small caveat... does it count if I let my buddy ride the Tenere and I led riding the Goldwing? He needed a day on the bike to get used to it prior to the CPAAT and I wanted to head up 5 hrs North to Cycledude's house to get that RDL seat he decided to sell. So instead of the slab we went up the back way towards Monroe on 69 north through New Glarus, then 92 to 78 up to Sauk City took 12 outside of town and got on County PF (great scenery and curves) then county W west by LaRue (just outside of Baraboo) back to Cty D north to 154 west up to Reedsburg then Cty K up to 12 then Mauston and headed straight north to Medford. Started at 8 am. 52 and cloudy. Supposed to be beautiful all week. But clouds and a high of 57... until 10 minutes from Medford... then sun came out and 62 when we got there at 2:20. Headed south around 5:30 and took the Super slab home. Getting dark and less possibility of a deer hit plus Temps dropped to 54. We had a few problems but we worked around them. Riding buddy had his neotec helmet comms completely die just as we were mounting up to go.(As in red light and nothing is responding at all.) Then my wings battery completely died when Itried to start it. I had just charged it 2 days ago. I used my jump pack to start it figuring in 150 miles it would charge up enough to start it back up... nope! Got the jump pack out and did it again. Jumped it at Cycledude's house too. We went into town to eat before we left and I stopped by the Honda Shop and they had a Yuasa battery with 310 CCA for $151. That's a deal from a dealer. They put the acid in and charged it while we went two doors down and ate. Then went back and they loaned me the tools to remove and replace the battery. So good people at the Medford, WI Honda shop. Tenere ran good all day. Fork seals seem to have quit leaking as the rotors were dry and oil free after 300 miles. I will still change out oil and seals this week. Oil test kits came in for engine and rear differential. I will get those sent off this week too.

Well let me jump in and let you all know where I have been over the past few days. Monday was a run down to Portsmouth for the overnight ferry to Caen.
It was dark and misty early on Tuesday morning but all was good until the rain started. First day in France and I am heading for Nevers, I am only on the road for an hour before to rain started! It absolutely hammered down for almost 150 miles and as I wasnt using Autoroutes, it took longer! Still, just outside of Nevers to sun started shining and after a shower and a beer, all was good.
Oh yes, and just outside of Nevers, I had a brush with the local Gendarmes. There was a white van in front of me as I approached a T junction. The van stopped and so did I, the van pulled away and after checking for oncoming traffic, I pulled out. The Gendarmes were on the opposite side of the road and on came their blue lights. I waved them in front as I thought they were on a call. But no, it was me they were after! Apparently, in France, when you approach a T junction and it says “Stop”, then you should stop even if nothing is coming then pull away. The Gendarmes were very nice about and my British/Welsh number plate confused them as I don’t have UK stickers, just the European blue flag with stars on and a British number plate with Cymru, (that’s Welsh for Wales). So they said thank you and I was free to go on my way after we had all shook hands!
Wednesday saw me starting off in sunshine on my way to Grenoble. The sunshine wasn’t meant to last! If yesterday was “a bit heavy” then today was real wrath of god stuff! Impossible to see the road surface and flash flooding which stopped a couple of lorries with water almost 8” deep! My S10 got me through all the way to Grenoble and another shower and more beers!
Thursday started overcast but dry and I headed up the N85 to the Route Napoleon. Temperatures were in the low 20’s so very pleasant riding weather. As the day wore on, the temperatures climbed to 30C and so I was glad to get to my hotel in Digne les Bains. Another shower and beer made everything alright but the food in France is becoming either British pub fare, burgers or pizza and I chose a restaurant which I would never go to again!
Today started sunny and pleasant as I rode the second part of the Route Napoleon to Grasse and then onwards to Sollie Ville near Toulon and a lovely hotel in a lovely village! Another shower and a couple of beers and the promise of real, proper French cuisine at last!! Watch this space for the homeward ride.
By the way, the only other S10s I have seen was one in Digne les Bains and a couple ridden by Gendarmes also in Digne les Bains!

Just a little update for today. I rode from Sollies Ville near Toulon today, via the Carmargue and headed towards Montpellier befor heading north to a town called Ganges for my overnight hotel. About 20 minutes away from my destination it started raining, not just raining but an absolute deluge! This is accompanied by lightning from horizon to horizon, regular forked lightning strikes to earth and colossal claps of thunder. By the time I got to Ganges the streets were rivers and opposite my hotel was a shelter for the pavement bar with 6 Spanish motorcycle riders under it! I think they were from the Impala Motorcycle Club? I felt quite smug because I was going to a hotel with a nice hot shower and dry towels. Wrong! Reception didn’t open until 4:00pm so we did what motorcycle riders do when faced with some dreadful weather, we laughed and joked and chewed the fat while hoping the rain might just stop. After about 2 hours, it has decreased in the sheer volume of water falling from the sky but as I type this, at 6:30pm it is still raining and the thunder continues to rumble. Of course, that could just be my stomach because I need to go out in the rain for a beer and a bite to eat as there is no restaurant or bar at the hotel!

I‘ve just found the Spanish website, the club is about Montesa motorcycles, here is the website , http://www.motoclubimpala.org/en/
