I'm back from 5 days up the Blue Ridge Parkway, Skyline Drive, West Virginia and back down part of the BRP again. 1600 miles

We had Snow, Wind, Rain, Heat and even a Bear. It was a great trip.

Just west of the Rock River. GPS Coord 41.983978, -89.337418 to 41.997793, -89.363872
It is a fun little curvy/hilly (but way too short) gravel road close to Castle Rock. Route 2 along the Rock River is a nice ride but didn't have enough time to ride more of it today. Anyone riding the Rock River should take this little detour. Don't forget to turn off the TCS.

1 of the guys needs to train for Alaska trip so off on 500 mile ride about. Out on the east plains of Colorado. Things happen out in the middle nowhere. Like math at 6000 rpm's in 6th gear how fast will we be traveling answer 110 mph. Gen 1 with CPU reflash and gen 2 stock. They might have been some drag racing going on. To be continued!! And other stuff of unspeakable nature. ::015::

Took my 15-year-old son as passenger on his first long ride into the mountains and to the Tail of the Dragon. He had a blast, despite a few hours of rain Sunday morning.
I think we need to work on the set up though. The B&W top case needs a back rest pad, and he kept sliding forward, so I am trying how raising the front of the passenger seat a little will work. Also scraped the left peg on the Dragon - I guess the bike does sit a little lower two-up, even on stiffest setting for the ES.

Awesome bike, did Mexico to Canada 23.5 hours. Just shy of 1400 miles. 2014 Es model. Did about 3500 miles in 5 days, replacement battery was only issue.

I posted these on Advrider also. From the weekend trip:

West of Monterey, VA on US 250:

And a side trip to Spruce Knob, WV:

First long weekend on this bike and it is proving to be a great choice for me!

Here's a thread about flattening the rear seat for you.

Glad to see he is not the only one feeling the passenger seat tilts. I already lifted is a little but I may go higher

With regard to the rear suspension. For some reason the ES version is exceedingly undersprung. There are a few threads here where fitting a stiffer rear spring has been done. I used an Eibach spring I got from Summit Racing for about $60 but it needs a 10mm spacer to use directly. It's about 30% stiffer in spring rate. Race Tech also sells a direct fit spring, a bit lower spring rate but more preload as installed. Either of these will help keep the pegs off of the tarmac.

Not exactly today but over the past 6 days. Dumfries & Galloway, Ayrshire and the Peak District. Bike was faultless and company was great. Even if one of them was a Ducati. The other Super Ten was Jono off this very forum. Great local knowledge that bloke!!

Newton Stewart for a pitstop

And the last at Morecambe Bay

All in all a cracking few days away. Think the seat needs a look at as after about 150 miles my backside felt like a Baboons Bum! Very tender.
