Went scouting some camp spots and back roads today. Couldn’t take the bike because I was afraid I’d run into snow. This is some phenomenal riding with the Tenere. You can camp wherever, and the native cutthroat fishing is great. Should be open in about a week to two weeks. 0A11F9F7-3DB9-4D89-A048-EB484ED3FCCD.jpeg674E5C61-6D44-4964-8009-63D700DF5BDF.jpeg812A222D-11EF-46F5-88F4-CC80B63DC1E5.jpeg9A4C1F6B-3561-49B6-AB81-A669DD0F633A.jpegA82EB8F1-1D62-4863-8A99-93BC0CFA32B6.jpeg967EBF83-43E1-4C31-B8A9-2F6D95D383BF.jpeg

We have had some great times renting Horses while on motorcycle trips. We also rented mules at the Grand Canyon, the mules ride unbelievably smooth compared to horses and they are much more sure footed.

I worked a season in the Yosemite Stables, the mules are incredibly smart too. A couple of the horses were regular smart alecs too. The wranglers had to keep a sharp eye out or you could have a customer off on some imaginary trail. Fun days.

With the wife and kids in the Smokey Mountains many years ago, my wife thought they said the horse's name was Satin. Turns out, with the southern drawl, it was actually Satan! The horse did try to take her off the trail and up a steep incline. The guide yelled at her (in the same southern drawl), "Mame, you gotta ride that horse, you can't let the horse ride you!" Come to think of it, I think that was our last family trail ride...

I spent 15 years riding horses with my daughter and loved it. Just as addictive as motorcycles, I even gave up bikes for a couple of years.
I kept these guys until they both died of old age.
Now I just ride 100 horses at a time with the Tenere

We used to have 1h.p. units that my daughter fooled with. My oldest boy didn't care a thing about them and never did anything with them. Could care less about horses. Funny thing he went over to the KY horse park for a job and told them the family had 3 horses. We did have 3 at the time. he got a job that day leading tourist trail rides and worked there all summer. they were upset when he left for other employment so i guess he did good with them even though you wouldn't have known it at my house! By the way sticking to the thread. yep i rode to work today too! Not on the 1 hp though!

Heading for record heat this week (103°F+) so I had to get out early. Headed over Four Peaks one last time for the year, up through the Tonto Basin, and back down the Bee Line.
Heading back to the midwest next week.
Roosevelt Lake is totally full, the first time since they heightened the dam in the 1980s.
