We've never had the TW in deep mud, but the OE knobbies let it go up a wet grassy hill sideways. I wouldn't think those tires are going to give the same traction.
Nope. Going up and down some small/medium soft gravel hills the TDub danced around but was okay. Same as the dry dirt, mud was another story. I actually shoved a 25x8 I think it was on there with a tube before but could get it to seat and was great off road. Full conversation soon enough and the S10, I'm eyeing the trailmax raid or motoz DV front and TA rear next. It's my daily ride so need a balance on and off road.

I’m almost at the end of my Black Forest trip and was quite surprised at the number of Africa Twins I saw over the 8 days I was away. Usually the GS is by far the most common bike I see, but this trip they were well outnumbered by ATs. Only saw 3 Super Teneres, including one with a side car and one UK plate in Bouillon.

Removing the Tenere from the market makes the AT the obvious choice for the affordable ADV bike. There's many on here that debated between the AT and T-12. Beemer, Triumph, or KTM is going to require a much larger investment than many are willing to do. And then throw in the reliability factor?

I can attest to this, with reliability being my main point I shyed away from the the euro bikes and with comfort being the next I found myself looking at the ST. A proper adventure touring bike needs to be able to carry a passenger comfortably and it seems. Like the market it steering away from the concept and focusing purely on off-road performance.... which IMO is pointless. That's what dirt bikes are for.
