I've decided on a 2014 Tenere and see the 2012's/13's are up to $6000 off at various dealerships throughout the country. I haven't started tracking when they started dropping in price, but since I'm holding off on getting a 2014, I'd like to know how long I'll have to wait. I can get a 2013 for about at least four grand less than msrp right now. The 15's will be out soon I gather and the wait is on!

2014's are on discount as well, and I would move on it. Port Yamaha has a 2014es for $12,499:

I paid the same, but would not consider a 2012 or 2013 again as there are changes to the 2014 that are worth every penny, and $12,499 is just stupid cheap for what you get.... although $10k for a 2013 is also silly cheap.
I agree, $12,499 for a 2014 Super Tenere ES is stupid cheap.

I think they're trying to move the 12's and 13s because the 14 has so many upgrades, that's why the prices have dropped. To get a deal like that on the 14 you'd have to wait for the next set of improvements to come down the pipe. ::26::

Bought my 2013 two months ago for $10700 list including the 1200 acc credit. 7% tax, $500 dealer fee and $100 tag fee brought me to $12300 otd. That was the best deal I could find in Florida, Georgia and Alabama. 2014s were selling for $13500 list with no incentives which put it over $15k otd. $12k otd fr a 2014 including tax puts the bike under $10k. Hard to believe people are really getting deals like that already.

I have recently been sucked in by the appeal of the Super Tenere... I am in search of an Adv Bike. So far I have fallen in love with the Tiger Explorer 1200, BUT it is too expensive for my blood. I then sat on a VStrom 1000 and just thought it had a "cheap" feel to it ( I was unable to test ride the Strom due to weather), $13,999 with bags and such. Then, by accident I stumble into another local dealer and saw 2 2014 Teneres, one being the ES. The ES is priced at $12,499 and the base was less than that. I couldn't believe the quality of the bike with all the standard features!!! This dealer does not normally allow test rides but I am working on that. I have also found a 2013 new for $9,999 ??? I really want cruise control for longer rides and comfort, I am 6'3" and 240lbs with some disc issues, that currently rides a 2014 Thruxton ::025::

If anyone has experience on any of these bikes to compare to the Tenere, I would greatly appreciate your input.

It's been years since I have been on forums, is this a hijack or, should I have started a different thread?? Sorry

On adv someone reported a 13 new 8500 OTD... So ther are deals to be had.
I new the 13s would drop again as soon as the 14 s were out and the weather went south. But at 46 my number of summers is finite, although hopefully I have a few left. If had known though I would be spending more tha. 3 grand to ride this summer I would have bought an 80s Sabre and waited for the fall sales. Life is short, the bike you want will be cheaper down the road, but the the 15s will come out with me bells and whistles that some people just "have to have". For m most of the stuff on the 14 doesn't move me. I am sure someone will chime in that I am some kind of Luddite but whatever.

I wouldn't bet any money at ALL on that being true. For several reasons, but I will just leave at " common sense doesn't apply".

Once you have made a decsion to purchase, then the price is RIGHT! Do not second guess that. Buyers remorse is real, but if all you are interested in is getting the very cheapest price that can be had......you will always live with disappointment. There will always be someone that claims a better deal. Sure you can wait for a model to be two years old and what seems like a great deal. But how much did you miss waiting on that? Plus the discount you think you got may not be as big as it seems. Wait till you see the resale value of that two year old bike compared to the current models you could have bought. We ended up buying a 2014 because we wanted the updated clutch basket and cruise control. Other little nice things are a bonus. $12,000 plus STANDARD taxes and fees, no dealer fees besides the DOC fee of $100.

You can do a search on Cycle Trader that will send you an alert. There are a few dealers with the standard 2014 for less than $11k, one for $10,343. In two months the 2014's will be a year old and should sell for even less.
What I want to know is how many are in the various warehouses. For instance the Yamaha warehouse in Atlanta, how may 2014's standard and ES are in that warehouse.

When you're standing on the pegs in TC2 on dirt with Big Blocks and roosting gravel at 65mph, with your Tenere buds all doing the same.......the things is worth every bit of MSRP. 2012, 2013, 2014......

There are only good deals on Super Teneres. Nobody got cheated. :)
