I definitely felt that way when I purchased my Zumo 550, then 660, then 665. No doubt it hurts, but each time I wanted the MC specific features the unit offered. In general I've found I could sell each unit at a very respectable resale price, which eased the pain a lot.

If no one else offers the same features, then you pay what the market will bear. Last time I looked (admittedly a couple of years ago) Zumo was the only one with real onscreen weather. That feature alone will keep me paying sky high prices. It adds a whole new dimension to riding and has been worth the added cost to me.

I picked up a used zumo 550 for $350 years ago and love it.
I read loading new maps was such a pita I never bothered. I like the fact that
with mine turned on I can see the surrounding roads so I'm finding new roads
that I wouldn't of taken otherwise. Don't know if the cheaper units give you the
same over head view.

second on the 550 zumo. The software is a pita, but completely water proof, and it made riding around/through LA last year a doddle.
I think mine was about $450 CDN. Not that I bitch, I wrote it off on my business, as I use it when travelling through out the States and Canada :)
