Both good machines. Add gas, change the oil and tires as needed and ride. I really enjoy my '13 and if you can get "the deal" on a first gen go for it. With that said, the electronic cruise would be great to have. I've put an Excel on mine and it gives my right paw a rest when I need it but certainly not as nice as electronic cruise. I had an '07 FJR-smooth and powerful-but I really like my S10 better. You can't go wrong with any decent S10.
