I am 5'7" and wanting a wider windshield and slightly taller one. Time to ask Santa (wife) ahead of time. I have stock windshield, Yamaha side deflectors and Madstad bracket. Still too much wind from the side. One review on V Stream said handle bars contact it, don't want that, any suggestions?

I have the medium VStream on the Madstad bracket and I consider it windscreen nirvana. There's very low noise and very little turbulence. I have no contact with the handlebar but I have rotated it back somewhat for greater comfort, so maybe that's why. In the winter, I use a Parabellum tall which is even better but is too warm for the Summer.

Sport Touring VStream set in the low position with side deflectors. Added 1/4" spacer(s) under the bottom mounting to tilt back a touch and it's good...almost too good. Being in the PNWet (with our three weeks of summer) lets me use this year around. Above 90F and it's beginning to get hot due to lack of wind.

YMMV

Parabellum with Yamaha side shields & Madstad bracket. Quiet and smooth. Only downside is it blocks too much air in hot weather. :)

I have been very happy with my Givi Airflow windscreen. It is great in the summer in the low position, and when the weather is cooler, it can be raised higher for excellent wind protection.

The VStream and Madstrad bkt works very well for me. In order to get the shield to what was the perfect height for me, I drilled some holes in the shield one inch higher in order to lower it one more inch. If you do drill the shield, use a step drill bit in order to make perfectly sized holes. With the Madstrad bkt, the shield has at least two inches clearence from the bars. I can see where if you didn't have the Madstrad, the bars might hit.

get a madstat and start with the stock screen, if needed he will still give you the discount if you need a bigger screen.

I'm also 5'7". I have the Madstad 20 inch shield with the Madstad adjustable brackets and used it for about 200 miles so far. I do not have any side deflectors. I still notice a little wind on the outer edges of my arms, but it's much less than what I felt using the stock shield by itself. The Madstad shield is noticeably wider than the stock shield, and it seems to make a big difference. Really, the whole setup works better than I expected. I don't have any wind blast at all, and the little bit of air I still feel is pretty much insignificant.

I've experimented with many shields over the 3 years that I've owned my S10, and the tallest National Cycle V-stream has worked out the best for me. As a result, I've decided to sell the other shields that I've used, to raise some money to buy my FJ-09 next year ::012::. If you're interested in any of these, send me a PM. All shields are in great shape, and each shield was used for anywhere from about 100 to 500 miles before I switched to another. All prices include shipping in the CONUS. No international shipping. Here's what I've got...

Parabellum 24" - $140 shipped
National Cycle V-stream Sport touring (their mid-sized shield) - $110 shipped
Yamaha OEM Tall/touring shield - $100 shipped
Yamaha OEM stock shield (less than 100 miles on this shield) - $75 shipped
