As stated running higher pressures usually improves high speed handling on tarmac, but it also reduces the size of the contact patch which means the tyre wears more quickly!! And offers less grip but will allow the bike to flick from one side to the other more easily!! It’s all a balancing game!!

Any of you wise owners have any experience with Road only tyres fitted to the S10? 2015 model.
Many thanks. Rp.

Yes, I used Michelin PR5 and found them excellent but the Continental Trail Attack 3 is also an excellent road tyre, I found what to be similar. The Michelin is perhaps a “softer” feeling tyre, great in cold, wet, hot nd dry conditions but then The Continental is too and I found it gave slightly quicker steering, perhaps a sportier feel. This was my impressions immediately after switching from the worn Michelin. Either tyre is confidence inspiring. Just to throw you a curve ball, the Bridgestone A41 tyres that my S10 came with were very good too, however, some people like them, some people don’t. I found them very good.

Very good experience with Pirelli Scorpion Trail 2, mean look, 80-20 road-gravel.

Merged your thread with the OTHER road only tire thread started last week. The US and EU largely get the same tires to choose from.

And btw - This sub-forum has 37 PAGES of tire discussion already so pretty sure you can find your answers here.

Ok, y'all are referring to the Conti Trail Attack 3 as a road tire. Where does the Conti Road Attack 3/4 fit into this conversation. The tread pattern is different, but what about the carcass?

True, I was referring to the Trail Attack but I don't consider it so much of an off-road tire as a street tire that can kind of go off road. Anything more off-road than packed gravel or fire roads starts to be a stretch for me with the tread pattern of the Trail Attack.

I can't speak to the Road Attack or the carcass question, I simply chose the Trail Attack for the excellent cold and wet weather grip.

I would likely go with the Trailmax Missions if I planned on taking a 500 pound motorcycle on anything other than the aforementioned fire roads.

As always, YMMV

No, I'm looking for a forever road tire, but if the "trail" tire is a great road tire, wouldn't their "road" tire be an even better road tire?

I could be wrong but the trail are
" designed " for heavy ADV bikes.
My mate has the road ones on his very heavy bike and very happy with them but they are more expensive and they would last less....
Eventhough the Trai are advertised as 90-10 in MY opinion they are road only.
Everyone is happy with this tire ( tyre?) Myself included

90-10 are road tyres really they just have the extra cut to suit the ADV look. They do hook up a bit better though.

I would say there is probably not alot in it. The road tyres mostly go for wet weather grip. Mostly silica in the front which is common now. More wet grip less mileage. I had Michelin Road 4 i think on the S10 didnt last long. Lost the front on them once turning right on wet road with a little mud on from farm vehicles not had that since not using road only tyres. I wouldnt go down some of the roads i do with road tyres as i not as confident in them. Rear has always behaved though. Traction control. Even a little more hook up can make a difference on a road.

I am a big Michelin fan, but I fitted Continental Trail Attack 3s 18 months ago and they are brilliant! Good grip in all weathers, warm up quickly, good wear and the compliment the steering and handling on the S10

I found the stock Bridgestones A41 tyres to be good, but, in spite of the media and reports, I am not a Dunlop fan at all. Conti TA3 all the way!
The Battlewings i think they were the stock tyres on mine were good enough for the bike.

You cant really run high pressures here as too many potholes and crap roads oh and bends.
