I rode down to Croatia from the UK on 28th April 2023 on a new set of Mitas E07+ To begin with they were fine but as they wore they got noisy.Which annoyed the hell out of meThe grip was fine on wet/dry roads. However these are tyres suited for someone who goes off tarmac riding trails. There are tyres out there far better for tarmac that are not noisy.

cycledude , TKC 80's are great tires , but the rear will last about 5 k .... ballisticexchris is a guy I think got a raw deal ... what is done is done , not sure he would come back now even if he could .
as for my bike I have been running Shenko 705's. starting to shop tires .what I'm seeing is I can find rears but no fronts or fronts and no rears . I think its better now but still an issue for some tire brands .

I'm currently using Mitas touring force and they're doing good but I haven't been with them in the wet yet. So we'll see in a few months

I picked up another pair of TrailAttack3s a few months back from Blackcircles for £235, on a deal posted on ukgser. But as I already had a pair of original Tourances I’d bought back when M+P were doing them for £140 a few years ago, I decided I needed to get them used before they got too old. So After 12k+ miles on one front and two rear TA3s I’m now on the Tourances. 2000 mile riding round the highlands over the last 12 days and they’re doing just fine. The first 4days up to and around Grantown, the north coast and down through Glenshee etc was all pretty wet, but they gripped just fine happily keeping up with my mates on their PR5 or 6 shod GSs. Just goes to show how good they always were. Having used them on all three of my previous GSs at different times I kinda knew, but I had wondered if going back to them after the newer/better TA3s would be a mistake, but in tryth it’s just showed how good these have always been. Not sure they’ll last as long mind, the fronts already starting to wear.

My Super Tenere has had nothing but Metzeler Tourance on it.I find they grip well on wet and dry roads. My last pair did 11.000 miles before I changed them.I replaced them with Tourance from M+P Swansea for £204 delievered in May 2023. plus £24 to have them fitted to loose wheels. Some people get into their heads that The latest sports touring tyre from Eg Metzeler is the best and everything previous was rubbish.I used the now aging Metzeler Z6 on my Honda Fireblade up to 2022 and that tyre was brilliant on wet roads. The Tourance is another (been around a long time kind of tyre) that still does a Mega job.

I just ran another set of Motoz Adventure for the Idaho BDR. The new front dual traction tire they are offering for the US is not as good as the old one off-road, but it's better on road. It still works fine for the BDR's........ These Motoz tires are my Go-To tire for the foreseeable future......... They are bad ass !

By the way, for a "knob" type tire I have no chicken strips on the front tire, and I have about 1/4" on the rear tire. There are some tight, fun turns heading south from Canada. The knob tires defiantly show wear from such hot / side / cornering abuse, and just blasting corners. They dont skip around and I felt no wondering at all. Once they are hot on the road you have plenty of grip as far as you want to lean it over. I drug my toes on the ground several times. This would not be unusual with stock suspension. I have Ohlins that is cranked up STIFF for off road. So dragging your feet with the bike up on stilts, is leaning over far.......................

Side note for folks...... The bike
portion of our trip was almost 3000 miles. The dirt was about 1300 or so.... The front tire shows very little vertical wear.... (front and rear has wear on the sides, from the corners I just mentioned). The rear tire has lost approximately 3/32" down the center. Almost looks new...... When I put tires on for a big trip I use them as a "tool"... I blast the dirt 100% and that's what I truly love. On the corners, I blast them just about as hard as I can until (a tire) might start walking around or just melting the sides off. With this type of use, these Motoz keep on trucking and ready for another ADV ride ! ! !

Can a 170 rear be fitted to the S10? I'm hoping to put the stock rear tire of my GS1250 on to the S10. Thanks

The Beemer 170/60-R17 tire is 6.69" wide. The Tenere 150/70R-17 tire is 5.91". My tire is 3/8" away from the caliper brace. Then throw in sidewall expansion, and there will be contact.
All i can say is the car tire I havr run for years, 175 55 17 is 6.88 inches wide. I have run 8 of them on 3 different teneres for almost 400000 miles. They don't touch the brake stay.

I’m not going near the car tyres on motorcycle thing, (apples and oranges, etc, etc), but I don’t believe there is enough room to fit a 170-60 x 17 motorcycle tyre on an S10, I am happy to be proven wrong, but that means someone has to try and actually do it.
