::022:: what like more power what are the best engine mods
An ECU flash, Akra slipon, PCV and Arrow headers netted me about a 10 hp gain over stock. Much more grunt than the 2014 I rode back to back.markjenn said:I'm not sure we've ever had back-to-back dyno tests (before and after mods) that showed any significant peak horsepower gains with non-hard-part mods (e.g., ECU, exhaust, intake, etc.). Maybe better throttle response, maybe removal of lower-gear restrictions, but the top-end HP appears more/less baked into the basic design, particularly the fairly-low RPM ceiling. If you need more peak HP, probably the most economical way to get it is to trade for another bike.
The 14-15 models do have a modest bump that is perhaps a bit more than what Yamaha says. So if you've got a 12-13, I'd trade for a new one.

Apart from mine the ones I have posted a few times:markjenn said:I'm not sure we've ever had back-to-back dyno tests
A friend with an LC GS had his bike dynoed on the same machine as mine. Our bikes were even in hp and basically torque (I had a slight advantage at around 3000 rpm). Then his took off above 6 and went on to make about 16hp more. But in real world riding I rarely exceed 5,000 rpm with this super torquey motor so it's a wash IMO. On the track maybe a different story but I didn't buy this bike to do track days.Rasher said:Apart from mine the ones I have posted a few times:
Also posted results from Dyno of CJS Mod and Arrow headers without any re-map - on my bike with stock end can it gave an instant 6BHP at the top end, but caused the low speed surge, I also posted the results of the ECU-U Flash Vs the Custom Flash from CJS Racing.
Bottom line is there is a fairly good amount of power to be release, 10BHP might not sound a lot, but it is over 10% and mine does now pull harder through the range and revs strongly beyond the redline.
But unless (like me) you really love this bike it may be easier to just buy a faster bike, even with the mods I have done I am still a bit down on the new GS and light years behind the Ducati MTS / KTM 1190 and BMW XR models.
I think the Triumph Explorer is probably a good balance, quicker than a modified S10, and looking pretty reliable (after initial issues on early bikes were resolved) / cheap to run compared to the more exotic offerings out there.

I had avc reflash mine right after I bought it. I put 800 miles on it and got the flash. Night and day difference. It's the only performance mod I'll ever need or want.Ramseybella said:Your Joking Right? ::025::
Try getting your ECU flashed (night and day effect).
IF pre 14 model get a 14 clutch basket, smooths things out.
