Hi to all my fellow S10 owners..
I am a new owner, and have been enjoying mybike very much. One thingthat once did crossmy mind was, thestock pipe doesgveyou a hint of a somewhat throaty kind of idle, which goes away at cruising speed. I happen to love that sound, BUT, I am more of a traditional original kind of guy, I want the deep (soft) rumble, but avoid noise at all cost... Especially at cruising speed... I know here in Australia ACRAPROVIC brings out a slip on that messure the same Db. I just wonder if anyone has been down this road, where you have a sweet rumble with no noise once you cruise.. I would go and buy a Briggs and Stratton (HD) if I wanted noise, but a little more character would be nice.
:p

Thanks bonzer, so around 8 dB louder then. Can you hear it at speed?
Has a nice, not too much louder tone with the db-killer (turndown) installed. I use the additional because I had to tweek it towards my rear fender to clear my HB sidebag mounts..... and didnt wanna accidentally warp/melt it.

I have the Akra and like it a lot. Adds a bit of character to the exhaust note without being loud. Very neighbor friendly, but still I can hear the improved sound as I ride. I wear earplugs and never paid attention as to if there is a speed when I can no longer hear the note. There are a lot of variables, such as wind direction, position of my adjustable windshield, etc. Overall, it has accomplished what I was looking for, mainly removing that ugly OEM can and adding a bit of tone.

Thanks so far guys. I read of people who end up with a endless monotone hammering through their head at cruising, not what Im after, I still want to listen to music and talk to my wife on intercom, and hopefully just hear the wind, but in town and at idle is when I would like that throaty parallel sound.

Two bikes ago I had a Vulcan 900 cruiser and installed a Vance & Hines exhaust, which transformed the bike from being whisper quiet to loud and obnoxious at all speeds. It was so loud that I packed the removable baffle in muffler packing material and wore earplugs everywhere, but I was still not happy with the noise of it. I ended up going back to the stock exhaust and swore I'd never install an aftermarket exhaust on a motorcycle I owned again.

Fast forward to last year and, after having owned my S10 with stock exhaust for a year, I had an opportunity to test ride an S10 with a Remus Hexacone exhaust on it. It had a great meaty sound at idle and roared nicely under heavy throttle, but I could barely hear it at speed on the highway - yay! Turns out that bike had the removal baffle out, which meant that it would be even quieter if those louder sounds eventually got to me. In short, WANT!

Was already to buy one from my local dealer here in Oz, until they told me it would cost $975 and I'd have to wait a week or two for it to be ordered and come in. One good old google search later and I found this place in the UK http://calsport.co.uk/YAMAHA/7722-2012-XT_1200_Z_Super_Tenere/28-Exhausts/Remus/157989 whom I subsequently bought from for 350 pounds (around $500 Oz) total, delivered within a week!

One year later, my ears couldn't be happier. I highly recommend it! ::001::

+1 Love my akra pipe. Just enough add'l character without being too loud. Adds some nice midrange punch as well.

they were in R & D when I couldn't wait any longer and I had a round one laying waiting for something to attach it to.

It was a left hand side of a CBR XX - git a shop to make it fit and hooked it up.

Holy WOW has it got it, throaty and low and a NASCAR on full howl when pushed by the loud grip.

Love it.

Got the can on FleaBay for $100. and another $75. for fitment.

the staintues were awesome, put 55 000km on them and they looked like new.
I have a APR pipe on mine, it's not bad, saved a lot of weight over stock, ok sound.
my 01 vfr sounds much better with my two brothers :)
