Hi, I’ve just seen the real bike. It’s look good, very futuristic design. Additionally, the review was good too.
Anyone switch to niken? Or what do you guy think, trade in S10 for Niken?

Thank you

I test rode a Niken GT end of last year at bike show ride day.
Yamaha did not manage the ride, but put in charge a rider training partner - best of all they were the only "manufacturer" there letting us ride the bike and have fun but be legal <wink wink>. Kawasaki also took us up a silimar mountain route to Yamaha - Ducati took us throught the city and we never were able to lean the bike in a corner!

anywho absolutely loved riding the Niken!!

It is a big feeling bike. the front is imposingly wide and weighty - but it is planted and you know it.
Coming from a S10 the bikes weight is nothing.
This baby loves being dropped into corners. I was at the back of the group ride and the TEC was ride instructor. I held him back every corner so i had room to run through each corer because the bikes ahead of me were bunched up. I ran the corners hard and just droped the bars has hard as i could. it really is insipring and instills A LOT or cornering confidence. The ride instructer had a laugh at me when we got to the top of the moutain and we had a little chat he saying its a fun bike and I looked like I was really enjoying myself - i was giggling in every corner.
very capable bike.
hit a bump with a wheel or ride through a pothole and you really dont feel it and it did not get upset the cornering.
I do dream of owning one, but in Australia it is similar priced just under a S10 ZE !!!

I liked the way they looked from day 1 and would love to own one. I am a sucker for different. All reviews positive. The 3 cylinder is a gem of an engine. Different crank and pistons and lower bottom end torque than the FZ09 my friend lets me ride but, it is no slouch. If i had disposable income, it would definitely be in my garage.

So. . . . Yamaha is seeing if there's a market before they go all in? Hmmmm. . . . Or, less likely, they're pulling a "Mopar". Ram & Jeep have made vehicles that I refer to as interim vehicles. Jeep LJ was the interim for the JK 4dr. The Ram Mega-Cab was the interim for the full four door Ram. I never understood the why. Seems non-cost effective, but what do I know. Personally, I think they made it "just because they could". Just like the GTS. :)

Thing is the Yamaha scooter brand is strong in Europe. Why not test the waters with something like the Niken.

Almost pulled the trigger on a 19 GT a few weeks back. The dealership couldn't move it and had it marked down to $12k. It's tons of bike for that kind of money, IMO. I love the matte blue color and the fit/finish of the bike seemed solid. My biggest gripe (w/o riding) was the sloppy attachment of the side cases. The aftermarket seems to be dragging and I'm fully spoiled now with shaft drive.

Sat on one recently. Loved the ergos, loved the styling. The weight is not an issue coming from the s10.

My only hold back for the niken is that it doubles the maintenance burden for the front: two sets of forks instead of one, way more hoses, two tires, etc..... that is a lot of extra parts to service, but it may be worth it for the fun factor.

Anyonw know if you go through front tires slower on the niken due to having two up front?
