I would really love to get one more ride in before the inclement weather and am available to ride the first or second week in Nov.
I rode with a group out of Romney this spring an the roads and fire roads were excellent!
I'll go myself if no one else is interested, but more fun with other riders.
I live in NJ and will trailer the bike down (yeah I'm a weenie, but do not have my bike set up for distance riding)
Shoot me an email if any one is interested ( xr400guy@gmail.com )
Thanks
Chris ::021::

If I remember correctly you had a pretty impressive tow rig for that trailer.

Depending on when you're doing it I may be able to join you. Keep us posted on your plans.

Yep.. that was me. I,ve been down to NC twice and Tenn once with that setup this year.
I would rather drive the the car on the interstates and the bike in the twisties and off road.

Roanoke, VA - Past: Asheville, NC & Fayetteville,
If there is any interest, I have Nov 2-4 off and would be happy to organize an informal SuperTen rider gathering a bit further south in WV - around the New River Gorge in Fayetteville.

There are plenty of campgrounds here along with hotels and several nice rustic cabin rental options.

Riding options range from great mountain twisties to barely paved back county roads to well groomed gravel to full bore dirt and then all the way into terrain that I will only take the WR on over the SuperTen. So there is something for everybody. If we can get Spklbk to stop chasing turkey and deer for a weekend, we could add one more very knowledgeable local to lead a ride.

Gimme feedback and if enough interest, I can get the wheels turning.

WOW!

That sounds great.
But its probably not in the cards for me for Nov 2-4.

Maybe we can plan for something in the spring.

That looks like almost 8 hours for me just to get there.
I would prefer to be closer to the East.

IF I can make it work, and if you're still interested, I'd be happy to take you on that road I remember you wanted to do last spring. I doubt there will be any water running on Blackwater Canyon Road in November, but still a fun ride.

Weather permitting, I plan on being in the area. I don't know the area well, but any suggested routes will be appreciated.
Are any campgrounds in the area open this time of year?

Looks like I am out. It's just too far for me to travel in the time available.
Probably gonna ride in North Central PA / Wellsboro area.

If you can use .gdb (Garmin) or .gpx files I can send you lots of route ideas. PM me your email address and I'll send them to you when I get home.

Can someone suggest a good home base do three day trips in this area.
Campgrounds are probably closed so it would have to be a decent motel

The are lots of cabin rentals in the area that are likely still in operation.

Watch the weather forecast closely. It can get sloppy in the Highlands this time of year. A little snow this week.

I met fishcat in Wardensville yesterday for a spin around WV.

Brisk morning at 38 degrees in the shade, gave way to a nice 55 degree Fall day.

Took a few pictures and a little video.

He is staying out there to ride through Monday morning. Perfect weekend for it.

For those of you who remember Chris from our ride in May, he as upgraded his tow vehicle. No longer towing his enclosed trailer with the Honda Civic, he tells me he's moved up to an Accord. ::025::
