I went to drool on Ducati's today. I've been thinking about selling my Hayabusa and buying an Italian princess. Then I saw the new 2013 S10's. I love my 2012 Raven, but both of the 2013 colors are amazing. Hopefully my dad buys one so I can have 2 flavors to ride.

In the mean time, we'll see how long my will power holds out on the Italian beauties.

Just keep drooling !! don't waste your $$$$$$$$$$$$$, I bought a 2010 Multistrda, owned it for 1.5 years, had nothing but trouble, spent more time in dealer than on the road, lost around $ 6000, sold it while had 6 months warranty left , went out bought me a S10, what I should've got in the first place !!
I just refer to it as my midlife crisis !!!
enjoy your Yamaha..... ::025:: ::008::

I was looking at Diavels and Monster 1100's. I tried the Multistrada and bought the S10. I couldn't see the extra $5k and a chain. 3000mi trips would be a lot less fun tensioning a chain every morning.

You could always get your raven S10 repainted in the same set of clothes that the 2013 S10 are coming suited up in... it's just the external layer after all, everything else is created equal as far as the S10 is concerned. I hear you though on the MS12, but the thought of dealing with a messy chain and all that... no thanks. YMMV though.

I've owned two Ducati's over the years. The first being a 2002 998 which I bought new and eventually sold to buy a 2009 Multi. I've had no mechanical trouble with either bike, but the Multi and it's lame A$$ tank issue, coupled with Ducati's response, led to my purchase of the S10. My tank was replaced under warranty but with the exact same tank, so in a few years the swelling issues will be back. The next replacement will be out of my pocket, and while I have grown to accept my expensive Ducati habit I just can't agree with buying a new tank every other year. I can avoid Ethanol here in Germany, but I couldn't in the States, so I may not need a replacement for some time. Ethanol is the believed culprit that causes the swelling. Even with this issue I still have a hard time trying to part ways with the bike.

Ducati's are fun, sexy bikes and maybe the Italian/German (now Audi owned) mix will help with some of the quaility issues. For me the old school Multi is a great fit with the S10. Whenever I get the sportbike itch, I hop on the Multi, but my European touring will be done on the S10.

I'm considering selling my Busa and getting a Monster 1100. The Busa (wait for it) seems heavy and hard to throw around after riding the S10. I think the Monster would still be plenty fast and way more nimble for attacking the concrete jungle where I live. Not to mention the Busa's lack of ABS and traction control really bothers me.

I came sooooo close to buying a Multi. She almost lured me in, but I rode a Tenere and good sense overcame lust.

Couldn't be happier!

I loved the MTS, it was the first "Adventure" bike to capture my imagination and tempt me off my ZZR1400, and it sort of worked, I found it comfy, roomy, fast, yet without the need to constantly ride at 3 figures everywhere, climbing back on the ZZR after the demo it felt small, cramped, impractical and bloody dangerous, I wondered how me and my licence had survived the previosy 16,000 miles - and it had to go.

The sheer cost of the MTS, coupled with small (for two people) luggage and huge cost (no chance of a discount as there was a waiting list) coupled with the issues I had seen mates with Ducati's experience - and the high costs for servicing were more than enough to put me off.

I bought a used GS which was a bit of a mistake, but convinced me these sorts of bikes work well for me, fast enough to be fun, comfy enough to tour for two weeks, capable of carrying luggage for two, but not likely to lose me my licence - which I think the Ducati may have still encouraged.

The MTS is top of my Lottery Win list for a solo Sunday blast bike

I had the 2010 Multistrada 1200 for little over a year and put 9K+ miles on it. My wife has an 09 696 Monster and she has put over 13,000 miles on it (loves it). What do you want to know about Ducs? ::017::

I only adjusted the chain on the Multi once, about 900 miles or so. Huge chain and it does not stretch much after the first few hundred miles. The chain is the least of your worries! ::024::

I am waiting to test ride the new HyperStrada, probably around march! These bikes are LIGHTWEIGHTs, and handle GREAT! But you pay for that. Harder to work on, i.e. harder to get to stuff. The Multi12 requires dealer computer to even remove the service message ($50 at most shops if you do the work yourself such as change oil and filter).

I owned a 2005 Multistrada S and absolutely loved it. But the swelling/leaking gas tank issue ($1900 if you're out of warranty) and the inevitability of self destructing valve guides (about a $2000 repair) led me to trade it for my '09 Street Tripe R. I'd have to say that if you're lured by European iron, the Triumph is the way to go. It's just as light and good handling as the Italian counterpart with more power and better reliability. I've had virtually no issues with the Triumph. The only downside is if you love a twin, there's no Triumph twin that equates to a Ducati, only triples.

I am having sort of the same experience. The Busa is (relatively) uncomfortable. I wonder how I've made it without serious injury or felony driving violations. As such I don't find myself anting to ride it much. Even though it is paid for, the insurance is high enough to make me feel bad about it sitting so much. The only thing stopping a sale is the crappy resale value. With that said it isn't going to get better. I may let it go in the Spring. I need the garage space anyways. I'm thinking of getting a H1 for a daily driver.
