I appreciate it - that my Dremel carved and painted heat shield passes for a carbon fiber one (in pics anyway) .BravoBravo said:Thanks, guys! Creggur, I have the same carbon fibre heat shield as yours too. The Akrapovic does look like a high-quality item. I am very excited about it!

Sweet pipe, can't believe you haven't thrown it on yet, it takes 15 minutes.BravoBravo said:Having it installed next week when The Blue goes in for a service. Can't wait to hear how it sounds!

Agreed. And it does the growling without getting obnoxious. I also noted a butt-dyno difference, nothing huge, just a bit more "go" above 4k RPMs. And it's the easiest thing I've installed on the bike outside of my Grip Puppies - 30 minutes tops if you're really careful and take your time - and I'm about as un-mechanically inclined as they come...allamerican said:The Akra can does have a very nice growl compared to stock and seat of pants appears to make a difference at the higher RPMS
Have fun.
Yeah, I know it is an easy job, but the ST is going in for service tomorrow anyway, and it is even easier to have someone else do it for me. The weather is miserable this weekend anyway (although I did get out for a few hours yesterday.)jasonc32amg said:Sweet pipe, can't believe you haven't thrown it on yet, it takes 15 minutes.
Sweet!BravoBravo said:And here it is, installed and operational. I like the Akrapovic, as it is no louder than the stock pipe, (at least as far as my ear can discern) but it looks infinitely better than the stocker, which I always thought was kind of fugly.
Cheers,

Akrapovic recommends doing a visual inspection of the exhaust before each riding season and to change the sound damping material every two years as a general rule of thumb. I guess they don't want to be more specific than that, since a lot will depend on how much mileage a rider puts on yearly and how hard they ride. Greater heat will obviously cause a faster deterioration of the materials.Tenerator12 said:What's the repack interval on the Akra?
Yes, this video was one of the reasons I decided to go with the Akrapovic. I thought it made the Super Ten sound a little more authoritative without being anti-social. ::008:: Thanks for posting the link!creggur said:Just found this - definitely a little deeper growl without much more overall noise level:

The Leo Vince does sound very nice - loud without being straight-pipe Harley loud - and as a bonus, it is a good looking piece of kit too! ::008::nani said:I got about 10k miles on my Akra it hasnt gotten any louder yet... I might swap it for a leo vince or Yoshimura pipe. I like loud O0
Thank you! The only aftermarket muffler that I know of using mechanical baffles was the Staintune, but from what I have been reading on this site, Staintune discontinued the Super Tenere pipe.cadcamkenny said:Very nice looking add on you have there.
Does anyone have advice on an aftermarket muffler that uses a mechanical baffle and does not need repacking?
