Digging up an old thread...

I'm not loosing a noticable ammount of coolant, but the past 2 times I've serviced the bike, there's been a wet spot in the foam on my skid plate and you can squeeze a drop out of the tube. The pic is of the wet spot inside the skid plate. I guess I'll make an appointment at the dealer.

With the stock PE coolant I always get a few drips out of the tube. Changed to PP and hasn't dripped yet.

It seems more oily than coolant, but who knows what it is after it mixes with 4000 miles or rad grime and the foam in the skid plate.

I think he means ethylene glycol vs. propylene glycol. Ethylene glycol is the standard coolant mixed 50/50 with water. Propylene glycol is often used straight, or 100% concentration. Some folks believe the 100% PG is superior to the 50/50 EG and water. Evidently the various motor vehicle manufactures are not convinced of the benefit of 100% PG. I can't think of any manufacturer that uses it.

Propylene glycol is much less toxic than ethylene glycol. I store my bikes inside and I have cats. The dripping bothered me.
I also use Amsoil coolant (propylene glycol) which until recently was 7 year, 100K life coolant. My bike doesn't drip anymore. FWIW.
Propylene glycol is mixed just like ethylene glycol.
