Brembo or J. Juan brakes? Can't blame KTM if a Brembo fails. You probably CAN blame KTM if a J. Juan brake fails.
There's another three-letter brand that's also quite consistent.

You shouldn't say that until you've ridden one for a bit. Chassis dynamics are quite a step ahead of 99.9% of Japanese bikes.Reason #368 why I will never own a KTM.
To many failures and reliability issues for my taste. All of my buddies that jumped on the 790/890 band wagon have sold their bikes due to reliability issues.

It's all about perception, I guess. If you start poking around in the tech section here, it's easy to conclude that there's all kinds of problems with the S10: clutch basket issues, CCT failures, CC issues, lack of factory lube in suspension/steering bearings, ABS pump failures, rear drive oil seals, hard/no start, "twitchy" throttle, low speed stalls, broken spokes, etc, etc.
You left out defective head light harness and couple other things. LOL
True, if you believe everything you read on the internet. However in my example, I actually know and ride with the people that bought the bikes and then sold them. In fact two of them both said their 790/890's were the most fun bikes they ever owned, but also the only bikes they ever had that they were worried about making it back home on. Those 2 bought T7's and both said piece of mind a long ways from home out in the boonies is worth a lot more than the extra performance of the KTM's.

Between my '21 and '23 I have 38,800 miles, plenty of cross country trips and no issue that has left me stranded. Only issues have been of the minor annoyance type and were taken care of quickly by the dealer.
Not trying to convince you to try one. To each their own. All brands have some issues

Yep, I have roughly 50K miles on owned KTMs, and probably 100K on four owned Super Teneres. None of them perfect, but the KTMs have been more problem free than the Teneres. All of them great bikes. Ride whatever makes you happy.

Agreed, I'm looking forward to jumping on the V85TT today to ride back and get my...um...never mind.
Seriously, the V85TT is simple and just plain satisfying to ride. It has enough Italian style to not be dull, but avoids all the high tech overload so common on modern bikes.

There's a lot to be said for "simple and plain satisfying to ride". Same goes for the NC750X. It's a very hard trait to find in bikes anymore.

That's why I didn't limit the statement to one bike or another. I'm guessing you're referring to the S10 not the T7? Or maybe both? Got to remember "Tenere" comes in 2 flavors now. Either way compared to a lot of todays bikes that are overloaded with unneeded electronics the S10 is "simple." More to the point both it and the FJR have "just enough" with ABS, cruise, and heated grips on the newer ones. Alas Yamaha seems to have lost that plot on the new Tracer 9GT+ because it certainly has + too much stuff.I guess it's all in one's perspective. 'Cuz I feel that the Tenere is simple and satisfying to ride.
The V85TT which this thread is about seems to hit the sweet spot of "just enough."
Modern? I've ridden an MT-10. It didn't feel any more modern than the Tenere. Different, but not different.
Yeah, I've called it just "Tenere" from day one, back before there even was a T-7. And I can't bring myself to call it an S10. (crappy little Chevy truck) And I have nothing against the "Guzzi, it's a good looking bike, but I've never considered it very "modern". Even CW referred to the motor as being a push rod design and lacking in power compared to the Tenere.
I guess I'm just getting a little butt hurt about all the "tired of the Tenere" . . . . on the Tenere website. I shouldn't have to defend her on her home turf. If she's not what you want, fine. If you want to stay on the forum, fine. But don't get another bike, stay here, and talk smack about the Tenere.

I think most of us who have moved on (Dirt Dad, Donk, myself, etc.) have not forgotten what brought us here and stick around here for the fellowship. We cherish our time in the S10 camp and would never disparage the girl....the only time we may come close to "talking smack about the Tenere" is when a reply to any comment we make about our current ride choice falls into that "the brand that you're currently riding sucks and I would never own one" category.I guess I'm just getting a little butt hurt about all the "tired of the Tenere" . . . . on the Tenere website.
