Hi Guys... I`m quire new here so this may have been covered before. Motad have a clearance sale on at the moment, I just picked up a Silencer today from ebay sale direct from the factory, got it via e-bay for £80.00...., yes a steal. If you contact them direct you can have one for £100. BTW, there one on e-bay used from a breaker at the moment, asking price is £175.00 ::)

One thing i like is that you can keep the standard plastic trim cover & you bolt on the standard silver end cap onto the new exhaust & i think extras like a Pyramid hugger will fit unlike the Akra pipe.

Think I saw the one on ebay... What's the quality, sound, performance n whatever else like mate. Looking at getting a can myself but was edging towards an Arrow or Yoshi... Low price of the Motad is a teaser...

The Tone is definitely deeper, Motad Viper`s seem to do that on most fitments, there no baffle in the silencer as such so there no chance of it getting silly loud. All new bikes for some years now have a CAT as standard so unless you remove the CAT the exhaust will not become very loud, the only exception to this that i`m aware of is a Harly as the CAT is apparently built into the front of the Silencer & not in a separate can just in front, with the Motad fitted a blip on the throttle in traffic certainly makes the cagers look for you though. At the same time you can cruise along at 60 - 70 & not hear much at all, but crack the throttle open & it definitely starts to bark. :p

Performance wise it hard to tell & be 100% sure but I think it does pick up quicker so maybe extra BHP or Torque is to be had, the one on ebay from the breaker asking for £175 claims the Motad pipes gives a 6HP increase. Quality looks good, pitches between bolts is spot on so no probs bolting the cover back on, in case your not aware the silver end can off the standard pipe bolts straight back on so other than the polished Stainless the bike looks standard. Some might see this a s a negative but after seeing some right shite pipes bolted to Explorers im happy with that standard ish look, just check out a Tex with a spindly looking bit of drain pipe bolted on & you will see what I mean.

Hope this helps?

Appreciate all your views mate! ::003:: The tone of the can is something I'd hope/expect would bring a smile to my face when 'playing', but more important I guess is, it works when filtering. My experience is by far a bigger percentage of vehicles make way for me when they can hear me coming n where I live, I seem to have to filter more n more these days... :( Not particularly bothered about the performance to be honest, but asked because I've recently been getting insurance quotes n my last couple of insurance companies have asked more detailed questions with a view to a possible increased premium regarding aftermarket cans. ??? In the past they tended to expect you'd install one and were happy as long as it didn't add more than 5% power. Like I've mentioned, was leaning towards Arrow or Yoshi, but think I might give Motad a tinkle n have a wee chat... Cheers! :)

No worries Bob, if you chat with Motad they wont give any performance quotes, they just concentrate on the tone Rideability which I guess is what most of us are looking for to help wake the car drivers when filtering like you say.

Nice one! Got to say just watched a Youtube vid of a S10 flying along with a Yoshi can thundering away (titled 'Dery's Diary - Yoshimura for Super Tenere').. Did sound very nice n would be happy with that music... :) Still, can't turn me back on saving a fair few quid too. ;)

A mates got the Yoshi fitted on his S10, he came to the meeting today but I wasn't on my bike so couldn't do a back to back check but i would guess the Motad has a bit more bark low down. I must say when he pulled away I would still say the same but due to the torque he probably wasn't pulling many revs, will only know when were both getting em wound up a bit, there a club run on next weekend so might get a chance to compare then.

Bang! Got one coming tomoz. ::008:: Spoke to Ian in Sales (nice chap) n he gave me the info I needed, (stock fitment, no BHP gain to keep insurers happy n most importantly to me, a louder sweeter sounding pipe than OEM. Mind, we did talk far more about S10's than the end cans he was selling... :D Regarding the cans he said theres only a few left n after that no more will be made. Real shame they haven't sold in the right numbers because the whole quality (via recommendation for now), service n value thing seems to be up there... Same with there crashbars they do, full coverage top n bottom (2 for 1), seems fairly priced compared to Touratech for example, but not many buyers... Need more advertising n word of mouth maybe.., plus not enough Tenere's sold in Blighty to keep em interested? Rocking horse poop..! ::)

Just for clarity, are you saying if you have an Akropovic fitted the Pyramid hugger wont fit?
Cheers for that Graham, I spotted that on the instructions, I picked a brand new Pyramid Hugger up for £50 ;D last week. I think they will fit but you have to order a different bracket from Pyramid, not read the instructions too much yet as it dosent effect me. I`m hoping to fit it after work tomorrow so I will have a closer shufty at the instructions then

I had an AKRA and Pyramid hugger on my 2012 and there were no problems fitting it. The Akra bolts on exactly as the OEM silencer does.

Any photos of the Motad silencer? If theres any left I may be interested.
Yes Del, have a look on ebay there is a pic there but not fitted. You bolt the silver end cone from the standard pipe onto the the end of the motad pipe, you can just see the polished SS if you look under the plastic side guard or look from the off side of the bike

I've gone and done the dirty deed and it looks like I may have been lucky as Ian at Motad reckons it was the last one! Like yourselves, I'm just after a bit more noise and am not really interested in any power gains.

Put mine on last night. I'd say on tick over n riding normally the can ain't much different to stock. Maybe a bit more burble. Gassing it, it is louder, but not as much as I'd expect from ya general aftermarket can. This is good or bad depending on ya viewpoint. Even though I suspect it's not the most ideal can out there for filtering, I'm happy enough as it does add a better soundtrack, looks far better than the stock being brushed stainless n with no power gain won't need to inform the insurer. Oh n deffo not forgetting, it were no money to buy! 'Maybe' next year I'll look to buy a Yoshi for even more attitude (believing they give more of that from the vids I've seen), but we'll see. Till then... ::26::

No Im saying that in the instructions it states it wont fit with a standard bracket, you have to ask for a different bracket. Apparently it will fit with a none standard bracket

I see on Pyramid's website that they say it requires a special washer kit if used with the Akra. I find that interesting, as I had one on my 2012 Super Ten with an AKRA for over 20,000 miles with no special washer kit. No problems with clearances, etc that I could tell. I found that it was easier to remove and replace the rear wheel if I first removed this hugger, BTW.

Fitted my Motad Venom today, thanks for the heads up guys.
I haven't been for a spin yet but just listening to it rev and idle the tone sounds a lot deeper. Just what I was after.
No problems XTdel, I have been for my first decent run today since fitting mine, sounds great when making a little errr, Progress. Giving it a crack open at low revs usig the torque make it bark quite well too......., and all for £80 ;D

Yeh I'm enjoying mine the more I hear it. Think I was just expecting 'loud' like my previous bikes n there cans. Deffo a nice burble n on the revs its somewhat more throaty. ::008:: One thing I reckon though is it does give a power gain contrary to what the sales chap said.. Tested performance a few times against me mates Tenere n mine is the quickest of the 2. Even though I was loaded with panniers whilst he wasn't. Roll on acceleration at any speed my bike had the upper hand. Not particularly important, but I won't turn down the extra pep... :) Deffo a bargain 80 quid buy...
