Chris at CJS Racing can now offer some very affordable Flash options for the Super Tenere (2010 - 2013)

Currently the going rate is £350 - £450 for most vendors and involves sending your ECU off somewhere and when it comes back the restrictions will be gone. All of these vendors also recommend that you still need a power commander to fully optimise the fuelling for your bike.

Or now in the UK there are a couple of good value options from CJS Racing:

Option One - Flash Only:- £199 (Plus postage, or drop off / pickup ECU)

* Remove restrictions in both modes
* Turn off the O2 sensors and improve fuelling in the closed loop area
* Spark map mods and removal of the massive advance in the neutral map

The bike will also feel smoother and lose the off-idle stumble some people whinge about.

Note: from chris:-

people who do the clutch jumper mod are in danger of engine damage with 50 degrees of advance at 100 percent throttle
Just as AVC8130 reported way back, but in case you missed it, the CJM is not a good idea long term, maybe OK to see if you notice the difference low down with the throttle restrictions gone, but long term running could damage your engine.

He also fixes up this map, but with the flash de-restricting the bike I cannot see any point in jumping the clutch switch anymore.

For a full custom setup it will be £425, this gets you all of the above plus:

* A day on the dyno having both cylinders individually set up for fuel and spark.

This will give a much better running bike as no two bikes are the same, as far as I am aware nobody else offers this with a flash, or adjusts the cylinders individually.

It also means the bike can be perfectly setup for any other mods including different air filter and exhausts.

Sweet offer for the tuners!

I claim not to be one.
But that would be tough to ignore. Especially the custom dyno maps.

Maybe AVC8130 should buy a dyno and go for a career change ;)

Even the likes of Flash-Tune are a bit beyond what I would feel comfortable knowing enough about, although would like to able able to mess with the throttle maps, but fuelling and spark advance is dangerous ground for those who do not really know what they are doing.

Chris at CJS seems to really know his stuff, and more importantly seems really honest, I know a few people who have had him sort other bikes, mainly ZZR1400's (ZX14R's) and they have all been really happy - and had amazing results.

He has ticked the two boxes nobody else could for me:

1. A Custom setup without having to add a power commander on top of the cost of the Flash
2. Being able to fix the surging the arrows cause (Without having to add power commander and a O2 optimiser kit)

The cost to add the Power Commanders and get it all setup over here is over £800 so it is still far cheaper for me to "Throw away" the ECU-U Flash than get it "finished properly".

I am not bothered about this, as the way I see it I still had a much better bike for over 2 years and felt comfortable my engine was not going to melt with the Arrows fitted.

The only thing I am not 100% happy with on the ECU-U Flash is the overly aggressive throttle mapping, I am sure they do this to make people think the improvements are bigger than they are, but on my bike the second half of the throttle movement makes little or no noticeable difference, and when on the tight Alpine hairpins I found metering out power exiting corners hard was a bit difficult.

I will go back to the more linear 6th gear sport mode Yamaha mappings for Sport mode, and the 6th Gear touring mode mapping for T-Mode which I hate - in the first 3 gears it only gives 60BHP, a far less aggressive throttle map I can live with, 40% power reduction not so much.

I am sure the perfected fuelling and optimised spark will also help, and Chris does each cylinder individually to get the bike 100% for fuel and ignition, most dyno operators in the UK just bung a sensor up the tailpipe so only get an average reading across all cylinders.

So far the feedback seems most people are more interested in the custom setup than the far cheaper "off the peg" flash.
