I had the bike on the side stand and it fell to the right when I was trying to stuff too much into the side case. Not my finest moment, bike was ok, thanks givi, but I managed to shift my bars about 3-5 degrees clockwise. When going in a straight line it looks like I am steering slightly to the right. Bars aren't bent, I think I shifted the top triple tree clamp. Before I jump in and try to get this sorted, curious if anyone has had to make this adjustment, and if so' is it as easy as loosening the "top nut" and pulling everything back to center?

I had the same thing happen when the bike blew over.

Put the bike on the centerstand. Loosen the axle pinch bolts and nut, loosen both top and bottom triple clamps and things will spring back. Tighten the axle and pinch bolts, bottom triple clamps then top triple clamps, all to shop manual torque specs. The bike should be square again. I have had this happen on dirt bikes as well...

Just put the left side of the front wheel against a solid object, and while sitting on the bike, twist the bars to the left until they are straight. Done.

:)

Or, as GrahamD would likely reply, just throw it down on the left side once.

I just had this happen as well so thanks for the response, now I know how to proceed. I wonder if this is something common to all motorcycles or if there is a design issue with the front steering assembly? I have owned several dirtbikes and streetbikes and have never heard of misalignment of the steering unless there was major damage to a steering component.

I don't think you have been crashing hard enough. >:D It happened all the time on my KLR, until I stopped crashing so much. LOL.

Um, make sure while you mildly loosen stuff up, you compress the forks a time or three as if installing the front wheel.

I would never advise someone to deliberately throw the Tenere Down.

You cruel man. I'm all hurt now.. :p

It might work in a pinch though... ;D

Had the same thing happen to me. I tipped over in the campsite gravel after 500Km. I placed the bike on the center stand loosened the upper and lower bolts on the forks. Clamp a strait edge to the rear wheel and set the front wheel parrallel to it. It is unlikely the bars are bent try the alignment first.

I've used the door jam method after a tip over. It seemed to me it wasn't the landing that did mine, but the leverage on the bars when lifting it back up.
