Hey guys,

I got some parts with the used 2018 Super Tenere I just bought. I'm wondering what these are and I'm also wondering if the bike was lowered. The reason is that I think the previous owner was shorter than me (I'm a tall guy). I don't if I need to remove something to make the bike taller.

Thank you,
Pic #1: OEM kickstand.
Pic #2: The black U-shaped pieces are the OEM “engine protectors”.
The black rectangular piece with the V shape molded in the middle is a trim part that goes under the bottom of headlight housing between the forks.
Not sure what the two silver parts are for.
Pic #4: Is a custom kickstand for a lowered S10.

Thank you! Do you know why would the previous owner remove the headlight housing?

The clues are all there pointing to a lowered bike. To return to stock / original height, replace dogbones and side stand with stock items. Not sure if Soupy's lowering links can be adjusted enough to get you back to stock height.

Good luck!

that silver part, “I think”, which is a heat insulator, which goes under the rear footpeg support, so that it does not get hot with the exhaust

Why would this be removed? Weird.
I don't remember why I removed it too, but I think it was because the bottom support of the oem boxes goes in the same place as the insulator, and there was no space for both.

Since the last item to be identified are the two bolts and the two silver plates... these are the original suspension dog bones. Soupy's is a quality adjustable dog bone usually used to lower a bike. They will adjust back to stock height. You also have their adjustable kickstand. They sell a very nice pad that goes on the bottom of the kickstand that increases the foot print.

And don't ask us what that loop on the OE box bottom support is for. Nobody knows for certain. :D

Does lowering a bike only makes it lower to the ground or change the sitting quadrant?

Lowering does change the steering geometry of the bike though. It is amazing how little needs to change to make a big difference in how a bike turns in or corners. Lowering it makes it less responsive to imput. To keep the steering geometry the same you have to lower the forks too. Look at the top of your forks. Are the caps even with the top of the triple clamp? That is the stock position. If the caps are above the top then the forks have been "lowered". Meaning the triple clamp has been lowered ( Fork tubes slide furtherup throughthetripleclamp). If you are tall and have a 32" inseam then I would raise it up. I have a 32" inseam and sit the bike well. Raising it back up is easy to do. Measure the distance between the centerline of the holes in the stock dog bones. Then adjust the soupy dog bones to get the same distance from bolt centerline to bolt centerline. I'd take the current measurement and record it prior to moving anything in case you want to put it back to as found.
