I decided to take the bike on our annual trip from Indianapolis to Burlington, VT. I am considering going north to Detroit and going into Canada. I'm going to try to stay off the major highways. I plan on coming back into the US at Rouses Point, NY. Any advice on routes and places to stay. I would be interested in campgrounds or B & Bs. Thanks.

From Detroit to Buffalo is a boring drive through Ontario. Bridge/tunnel crossing Detroit to Windsor can be time consuming depending on when you arrive, avoid rush hours. You might consider crossing Port Huron to Sarnia. If you're chosen for inspection on return to US you can bank on some extra time and hassle. On the positive side lots of Tim Hortons in Canada plus you can see Niagra. Also the alternative through Ohio is a toll road and quite possibly one of the most boring rides on earth. Speed enforcement is legendary on the toll road.
