I have a question for all of you that ride many miles a year.
How long do you think it would take to ride from Southern California to say Fairbanks Alaska. Yes I know do the math. That's not what I am looking for. If its a ride to "get there" not stop and smell the roses, how many days do you know or think it would take.

You would be riding hard for 3,300 miles in 4 days That is L.A. to Fairbanks one way only. No sight seeing!
It would take most rides [and me] 5 days North of the border is all 2 lane.

Too many variables really, it depends on what you want to see and do on the way. I would say block your time first and then work backwards trimming your stops and sights to fit into your allotted time. Three weeks would be a nice trip, two weeks doable but limited stops and long days in the saddle. In the end take whatever time you can get and make it happen now. Most put it off as a bucket list trip and it never happens.

If difficult to get three consecutive weeks off from your work split the trip in half. Ride up, store your bike, fly back, spend a week or two catching up on your work, fly up and ride back.

No idea on timescales, but 4 or 5 days in constant travel rather than vacation mode sounds nasty. Have you considered having it shipped there and back?

If Cliffo had experience riding long distance, as I believe eemsreno does, then I could see maybe perhaps making it in 4 days. So technically yes. Heck, LA to Seattle in a VERY long day would get you an Ironbutt 1000 and you could even do this as a Border to Border. But you'd be shot the next day+ and it would not be a fun ride.

The roads are 2 lane with slower limits up north, the 2-lane roads can have miles-long backups if there are accidents, rain is the norm, and things just move a lot slower than life in LA. I'd say 5 if really pushing, realistically 6, and would not be surprised at 7.

Thanks guys. I was just wondering about the time. I had figured about 5-6 days up, depending on weather and roads. Yeah its gonna be tuff to get three weeks off from work at one time. Guess I will keep waiting for the time off and have to really sit down and plan it out. I guess put another thing on the bucket list.. Once again, Thanks ya'll..
