Installed some Cycle Gears trackside handguards this morning as it was a $100 cheaper than the alternative, also wanted better protection compared to stock. You do have to remove the stock weighted bar ends, but I feel no difference in vibration when cruising to work this morning. In my opinion all the vibration is being transferred throughout the handguards as i can definitely feel it when I grab them. I did not have the 12mm hex key to remove the bar end, so I got creative and used a 12mm bolt head and some nuts...lol

Thanks for that tip, great idea.
The bolt would end in a threaded rod .
What did you use to turn the bolt bolts, or additional nits??

I used 3 13mm nuts that I had laying around that threaded on the bolt. Tighten all 3 to the head of the bolt and then use a open wrench on the nut closes to the head of the bolt.

OK now I get it.
I remember removing the Allan key bolts from my Africa Twin bar ends. I had to put vise grips on the Allan key and it took a lot of torque to loosen these bolts.
Thanks for the tip...good to know.
