Dude! I knew I liked you the very SECOND you both sat down at the old-geezer campsite. And you're story......I will never forget it.
That post just confirms everything I thought I saw then. I LOVE yaws out-of-the-box strategies. I got the biggest grin on my face right now.
Yaw are young to have figured out LIFE, not just weekends on a bike, is an opportunity for adventure. So cool.
As for getting "something higher quality", I bet you already know that as much as folks like to think one brand is superior to the next, in this industry there are the clones and then there are the very very few that are higher quality. Or put another the way, regardless of fit and finish and amenities, there are 2 kinds of rolling houses......those that are "assembled", and those that are "built". FEW are built. You have to have plumbers, electricians, carpenters...etc to build a house. And it will cost as much as a house. ::013::
90% of all RV's are assembled. FAST. Probably by some really nice folks that have families to feed. But they aren't working in an environment that allows them to do a good job. It's just the way the industry is.
Still, I prefer to look at it with the glass half full. I might have to fix stuff here and there to stay 100% functional in my little houses on wheels, but I'm still stoked every day that I can have this lifestyle for such an amazingly low burn rate. It's a freedom that I fully embrace. To me, it's all about the front porch! The sunsets and sunrises. Even my "home base", coastal Texas, where my septic system and water well is for when I'm NOT nomad-ing across the terrain, is a glorious place to have a cup of coffee. And there is not quite anything that compares to hearing and then seeing a couple of grandkids on bikes suddenly appear through the trees as they head over to see if Pawpaw is home. (I keep a few treats in the house to insure their minor jaunt pays off)
Here is my base station. I'm HOME when I'm here.
Yea, I'm just one these days, so no need to sleep 10. lol
Ripped out that silly dinette booth and built my global network admin office.
I dine on the porch. If I'm feeding the family, we all meet at the 3 picnic tables on the other side of the pond from here.
