OK so after the sticker shock wore off I really like my TT Zega Pros and want to replace the OEM topcase with better sized and built TT topcase. But I'm not a fan of the rapid-trap attachment system. According to TT there is not other attachment system. Thought I'd ask other TT owners if they developed another attachment system. I'm hoping more consistent with how the side cases are attached?

Sorry i don't have an answer to your question. I too wanted the TT top case with the traditional mounting but in the end went ahead and got the rapid trap. I only use it when the wife rides with me. It mounts super easy and locks on. I haven't had a problem with it yet. Wife likes it to have a back rest and when she goes we need the added storage. I don't regret its purchase.

What issue do you have with the Rapid Trap?
I have ridden with mine down some nasty, bumpy roads and it has never been an issue. It is extremely convenient and secure to use.

Thanks guys more perceived concern I guess as the mounting looks to be made of plastic? Not seeing in purpose is one issue. You know how it goes when dropping that kind of money - you don't want it to be a guessing game.

If it is plastic (or ABS), first does it standup to off-road. When I head out for a day of off-road I often take off the side cases and use the Yamaha OEM top case to thin the width of the bike and still carry "stuff". Second, when it is off the bike what is the topbox sitting on? It looks like sort of C clamps. Does sitting on those clamps cause any fitment problems?

Or is the quality and fitment exactly the same as what I expect and got from the sidecases?

Terry i wondered the same things. I thought regular pucks would be better. I only use the box when my wife rides and we never do more that decent dirt roads. Phil has probably put it through some rougher stuff and he seems content with its stability. The box comes with its own rack. Its stainless steel just like the side racks and it is sturdy. It replaces the stock rack. Here is a pic (red tape is holding hardware)

The bottom of the box has two c type clamps that look to me like they are made of the same stuff as the pucks. These are push onto the rack firmly. The lever in the bottom right hand corner on front of the box releases the lock (which is stainless) then the box snaps in place. The lever can then be locked.

Here is a pic of box on rack

If you like your Zega pros you will like the top box. Very nice quality. Touratech catches alot of grief over their prices but i like it and i know i've spent more money on worst things in my life.I hope the pics help
Almost forgot if you get the box when you order locks be sure to give them your key code so you will only need one key for all boxes.

True Grip, that helped alot, thanks. I figured it must be robust but every now and again TT builds something with less than thorough thought. And for that kind of money you want to make sure. Glad to hear you are satisfied and the pics helped me make my choice.

I figured I'd get some good feedback from Phil as well. I know he has crossed the country with his.
